I am kinda puzzled.

It takes me 1 hour and 40 minutes for the encoding phase on DVDshrink. This has been standard across my discs. I have a Dell 700m, with a NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A drive.

I also have NERO and DVDDecrypter on my system.

I have checked and I am running in DMA and not PIO.

Any thoughts?

I appreciate any help.

If you have the quality settings and enhancments checked this is normal for the system you have. Sorry but it just isn't a very High powered system plus its a laptop. You could try some DVD with out the quality enhancments to see if they come out ok this would cut your time down dramatically, but if you are backing up the entire disk or have a compression below 80% or so I wouldn't recommend it.
