I tried burning the DVD multiple times, but it kept stopping at the "lead readout" (The very last stage after burning and finalizing)
also i am wondering if a dual layered DVD will work if I entered on in the drive... I think I have a dual layer writer but am not sure...

- this disc is ok in size, but make sure to set target size to 4300MB in DVD Shrink's preferences, to avoid future films going to very outer edge of discs

- Optodisc i believe are sub-par discs, however as this is a rewritable that should be ok.

- that doesn't look good. I'd get the firmware up to date as out of date firmware can't cope with newer media/burn speeds properly etc

I'd think twice before using DL media when you can't get single layer media to work properly. That just makes for more expensive coasters.
You should update your Nero. It does not recognize your specific burner. Part of Nero updates are updated optical drive lists in the program. And even if they don't add your burner it is always a good idea to keep the program up to date.
I like to use these Nero tools on occasion they help keep the installation in order and remove conflicts:

The first DVD I tried (The one I was talking about when I first started this thread) actually worked fine when i tried to play it in the DVD.

- i can't tell if you've set the target size in DVD Shrink or if your movie just happend to be a bit smaller that 4465MB. Make sure to set target size to 4300MB in DVD Shrink's preferences, to avoid future films going to very outer edge of discs

I own this same DVD drive that is being mentioned here.
Recorder: <GENERIC DVD DUAL 4XMax> Version: 2.17
I tried to upgrade the firmware on it using the URL that creaky suggested, but it wouldn't work. I get an error dialog box that says "Not support for this device". Can someone point me at a better place to obtain the correct firmware? My box says it is a HiVal drive model number HDVDRW4D. Thanks

@r1ngu - YAY, another happy customer, keep on burning...
@ke4fgw - i'm involved in another thread where a guy with a completely different burner/different firmware is getting the same error trying to update the firmware. i think some firmware expects the burner to be on a certain interface on the IDE channels
