I'm getting a Cyclic Redundancy Check error when analyzing the disc, I've tried DVD Decrypter with this DVD, and it failed as well. I've looked at the other topics about this, but the ideas I tried have not worked I tried AnyDVD, but it didn't work either. Restarting/Cleaning the disc did not work either. I've had this problem before and used a lot of programs before, none of them worked. I was able to get it to work by doing something simple, but I can't remember what it was.

I would first make sure you have the latest copy of Decrypter. If so try ripping it in file mode. If succesfull then you can open with Shrink and proceed busuness as usual. That seems to be one of the most sure fire methods for difficult movies. Granted I am still new at this but that always seems to crack tuff movies.

99% of CRC errors are disk related, if you have tried cleaning the disk and it still does not work after using various programs, your disk is more than likely bad and you should take it back and get another original.

I have the newest version of Decrypter, and I still get the same error in Shrink. Decrypter has an error when decrypting VTS_02_02 and VTS_02_03.
I tried to clean the disc with alcohol, and Shrink/Decrypter still have errors.

when I ran AnyDVD, it said there is no CSS protection, then when I ran DVD Decrypter I got a message that says something like "this DVD appears to have CSS protection, but it shouldn't have it. Would you like to see if it can be removed now?"
So, it finds the key for VTS_02_03, and successfully rips it. VTS_02_02 and VTS_02_04 still will not copy. VTS_02_03 says it is unable to append, create, or replace to file"
VTS_02_04 has an I/O error when it tries to crack the CSS.
I've never had any problems with the DVDs many people have had trouble with, but of all movies, this is the biggest problem I've ever had and the dvd was made 7 years ago. I'll continue to update on here and see if anyone can help me out.

I was able to get VTS_02_02 on the PC by dragging and dropping it to a folder, and it worked for this, but VTS_02_04 still has the CRC error.

Have you tried playing the original disc just to make sure it plays?
It probably does but you have to wonder with that many errors on the disc how it even plays. It would be a good idea to try and play it in your PC just to make sure your ROM is working correctly.
I think I would open the disc in InfoPro and look at it for errors. No doubt it is going to show a few.
This is not any kind of special encryption, just a crappy DVD pressing.
If you want to try something interesting you may want to run the thing through IsoBuster. That is supposed to be able to work through movies like this. It has options to ignore read errors, replace with zeros or replace with dummy data. It may even duplicate the original errors. I have only used this program a couple of times to try it and it seems like it should work OK. It's free and who knows, it might work for you.

The DVD plays on my PC and DVD player. I tried ISOBuster, but it stopped at 75%, I'll try it again, maybe I messed up. How do you open it open the program?

IsoBuster slows to a crawl when it reaches VTS_02_04.

I'll let this finish overnight, it will probably take 4 hours. After it finishes, what do I do with the TAO Image? Burn it to a DVD with Nero?

I have not worked with a TAO image before.
I use the VIDEO_TS folder, like this:
I've got The movie Matrix Revolutions Opened in IsoBuster.
It shows a "tree" with a red ISO box. I click the + next to the iso box. This expands the tree and now I can locate the VIDEO_TS folder.
I right click the VIDEO_TS folder. I select "Extract VIDEO_TS" from the menu.
A "browse for folder" window opens. I select my desktop and then select "Make a New Folder". I name the new folder and then select it as the Destination folder.
IsoBuster starts the extraction process. Once it is complete, I can open the Movie in Recode 2. The movie opened and analyzed.
Thats how I did it. I would rather work with video folders than images. And as I mentioned before, this might work for you. It might not.

Okay, I re-did it the way you said to do, at 79%, it started to go really slow and asked me to replace the with dummy data/ignore all errors, so I selected that. The last 6 hours its gone up about 7% to 86%. Should I just wait and see what happens? I guess i'm probably screwed with this DVD.

It's not looking to good at this point. As long as it's still processing you may end up with something though. I would throw in the towel at some point. The last movie I could not copy because of a similar problem was The Mask. I got tired of screwing around with it and moved on.

Well it finally finished, I'm putting it on a DVD now. The reallocation failed, and so it will probably not work. Thanks for your help fasfrank, and if anyone else can help, please do.
