Are you sure you have Nero Backup installed. That's the part that DVD Shrink needs. Remember you are "legitemately" backing up a DVD. It is not included with the Nero Express stand-alone setup. Need Nero Re-Loaded latest version to include the Nero Backup utility.

yeah, i have Nero 6 installed with BackItUp, Nero burning ROM and Nero express and a couple other programs. I also have a serial number for Nero so its not a demo. Is there a difference between Nero Backup and Nero BackItUp?

Do you have nero enabled in dvd shrink?
Open up dvd shrink and click edit/File I/O/enable burning with nero/click ok.
Then do your normal editing, and when you click "backup", on the select backup target, hit the dropdown, and choose burn with nero.

yeah, jim dandy, i do. i read another forum where you helped another person with the same problem almost, and his problem was resolved. I've clicked the box, i have legit media, and ive done everythign youve told the other guy. Its just when i backup after anaylsing, i am unable to "burn with nero." i only am able to save to hard drive and also to ISO. Im also using DVD Shrink 3.2 (is there a better version). Heres something though which may afect Nero; I have a Sonic DVD burning software already installed on my computer (it came with the computer). Thanks for your help guys!

Also, when you say you have "legit media",what brand are you talking about?

Not of very good quality IMO,they usually code out as CMC MAG,I use TY,or Verbataim only.
Is your drive recognizing the media? If not you could try a firmware update.

Nero back it up is for basically backing up your harddrive.
If you have the Nero 6 Ultra Edition, you should have what you need.

No all you should have to do to get it to interface with Nero, is what I stated above.
Did you try uninstalling Sonic?

Sounds to me like your new laptop isnt recognizing your media.Your new burner just might not like the Imation disc, which I stated before as junk media.
Is your firmware up to date?

The Blank discs have not even been in the computer yet, my problem is when im about to back it up with the real DVD where is says "Select Backup Target." I dont have the option of selecting to burn with nero even though its installed. Also, i am not too sure what you mean by firmware; this is a month old computer, so i assume so. thanks for your help and patience. Also, does it matter that i only have one disc drive?

Well we need to find out whats working and what isn't.
Try using DVD Shrink rip to your hdd and try burning manually with nero
Firmware is a tiny set of instructions that tells your burner to recognize certain media and to burn it at the rated speed or above.
Go to the burners website, to see if your firmware is up to date,

No it doesnt matter, most laptops only have 1 drive. When its ready for a disc, it well eject the original, and tell you to put in a blank.

If you havent even had a disc in the burner, than firmware isnt your problem.
Do as I stated above, and rip to a hard drive folder, and try burning manually with Nero.

yeah, im pretty sure, but my bro ordered the computer and said there was one. Also, a DVD burning program (sonic) came with the computer, so there would most likely be a burning dvd drive
