I've been having several issues with ripping DVD's with DVDFab. I've only been able to rip a handful of older DVD's (Hackers, Strange Brew) to my hard drive with DVDFab.

For whatever reason, AnyDVD and DVD43 have no success in removing the CSS from those discs. I don't even think DVD43 has worked once, and I've made sure to shut down one while trying the other.

Anyways, after the ripping process, I've tried re-authoring with DVD Shrink, but the menu only shows Title 3 as being available, leaving me with 5 megs of the 4.09 gig folder. The files are on the computer, but they remain inaccessable to Shrink.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Also don't have another program running at the same time as you use DVDFab Decrypter - such as AnyDVD or DVD43Free.

WTF... You cant use any HTML tags in here...

I think I may have worded the first part of my original post poorly. What I meant was that DVD Shrink and DVD Decryptor have been unsuccessful in ripping both "Hackers" and "Strange Brew", with AnyDVD active and inactive, and DVD43 active and inactive.

I have only downloaded and installed these programs in the past couple of weeks. I checked all my software, and the only upgrade I needed was for AnyDVD. But, that didn't solve anything. AnyDVD still reports the discs as damaged or dirty (which neither of them are. And I've gotten much harder-damaged media successfully ripped and burned with DVD Shrink/Decrypter).

It's just infuriating how I can get new movies like Ocean's Twelve, Blade Trinity, House of Flying Daggers, and National Treasure to rip and burn without a hitch (no pun intended), but these older ones (Hackers, Strange Brew, Desperado, The Cable Guy) continue to stymie me.

The nineties were a strange time. People thought things like trip-hop, AOL, and that guy from the Prodigy were a good idea.

You should download and install the latest ver 2.9.2.3 of DVDFab Decrypter. Released for a few days ago.

I do have that version; DVDFab was acquired two nights ago.

I think I may just have to write these off as losses, or bad pressings. Goddess knows I had a hell of a time with House of Flying Daggers, and a friend's copy worked swimmingly.

I believe it is because they are older disks and they probably have some imperfections in them therfore it nothing to do with copy protection from ripping those movies, but the fact that they are damaged in some way... Probably scratched just get another copy of each and try again..

Heh...well, that will have to wait a bit. I'm presently deployed to Europe, and won't get back to the States until late August.

Still, when I do get back, I'll be hitting Blockbuster and giving their copies a shot.
