hi guys hoping someone can help me...

I've burnt around 14 backup dvds using decrypter (latest version), dvd shrink 3.2 and nero with no dramas. But on a couple of occasions after decrypting the dvd and then opening using dvd shrink, the program with encode the file and ask me to insert a black dvd disk. When i do this the 'progress' as shown under the completion bar will say 'writing lead in tracks' but when it comes to 'writing tracks' it will spit the disk out and tell me that it's failed to burn.

I'm a little confused because if i try redoing the process again with dvd shrink it will sometimes work on the third or forth go.
It's causing me to pull my hair out (not to mention wasting good dvd disks)...

any help would be much appreciated..

cheers,

e x

Well you mention you have Nero and Decrypter, but didn't mention which program you are using to burn those disks? Either one will produce a log file on your incomplete burns if you could copy and paste one into here we could probably help you out a lot easier.

Also what brand of blank DVD media are you using?

Cheers

Hi Bbmayo,thanks for the reply,

I'm using Nero startsmart to burn the dvds through shrink, the disks themselves are Sony DVD-R 4.7G. I'll try the process again and post the message i get. I'm just wondering why it would burn sometimes and not others??

Hard to say really it could be a number of problems (the log could help)
Do you by any chance have AnyDVD/DVD43/INCD running on your system? All of those can cause conflicts while burning. You could also try burning with Decrypter instead of Nero and see if you are still having the same issues. Also try and make sure are other process's on your computer are shut down before you write to your media.

In Shrink when you choose backup just select make ISO and burn with Decrypter. I need to see all of your log just make sure you edit out the serial number first. :-)

You have Nero installed so do you have INCD installed? It is a program that comes with Nero it would be in your system tray running (down by the clock) if so get rid of that program it just causes problems for the most part.

:-)
