Uncheck the quality enhancements, or buy a retail program like Intervideo dvdcopy3, or even CloneDVD 2.
How slow are we talking here?

The encoding time depends on the amount of compression the more compression the longer it will take and if you are taking out audio and subtitles then your time will increase. With LOTR you have a large movie with probaly 50% compression the average time is about 48 minutes.

From Digital Digest
Quote:
No AEC

Compression: Elapsed time: Encoding rate:

100.0% 0 h 04 min 09 sec 30.329 KB/s

90.0% 0 h 28 min 38 sec 4.396 KB/s

80.0% 0 h 27 min 24 sec 4.594 KB/s

70.0% 0 h 32 min 06 sec 3.921 KB/s

60.0% 0 h 45 min 46 sec 2.750 KB/s

56.5% 0 h 37 min 00 sec 3.402 KB/s

50.0% 0 h 48 min 15 sec 2.609 KB/s

41.5% 0 h 42 min 00 sec 2.997 KB/s
And that time is with no quality enhancements
