everything seems to be working good until the actual re-author stage...the speed is like 10 kb\sexc, so it would take like 1000 hours to get a movie shrunk....trying to get to size for a regular 4.7 dvd. any ideas why its so slow???

@degraw
Hi
I personally dont use Re-author I use the Back up button clcik that and that will back it up and shrink the whole thing at default speeds which are faster than ur 10kbps.

Are you using quality enhancements in Shrink? Make sure you turn off the video preview. What are your computer specs? Check and ensure your DMA is on. Guide here

What movie are you doing, did you decrypt it first to your hard drive?

May be time for some cleanup, try defrag, spyware cleaner and regcleaner. Make sure you are not running any other processes when running Shrink, check your Task Manager and see what is open at the time, and how much ram is in use.

don't bother with re-author unless you're doing some sort of editing. Just let shrink do it's job. Be SURE to check your ide controllers and make sure one or both of your dvds hasn't slipped into pio mode. That happened to me.......MAJOR slow down.
