Hmm, guess I'm one of those here that does have experience with memorex and I did have playback issues with them. I never have any playback issues with verbatum or taiyo yuden.
Looks to me like everyone that has recommended against memorex does have experience with them.

i have me a designer coaster sitting next to my monitor, doubles up as a colorful toy for my son to throw around the house too, good thing i had only bought a 5 pack....... the one and only 5 pack i will ever buy, no memorex for me !!

Hello all :) , just thought i'd let you know when i first started backing up my movies using DVD Decrypter and shrink, i bought a 25 pack of memorex on sale at radio shack and backed up my entire james bond collection . well just to let you know i dont have my james bond collection backed up anymore cause none of them play without errors. so now one day i will have to back them up again with a different type of media TY's or Verbatim. well anyway i had a bad experience with memorex media .

well, IMO, influence or not, i am sure that at least some of the newbies do read some of the posts in here, and would have already seen the uses of 'lesser quality' media and the results they yeild. on the other hand, there are others who don't read, and automatically start new posts asking what kind of media is good to buy............ then you have others who call the experienced.........'idiots'

Yes.... Memorex is cheap and good, go get them while you still can, it's your money, so it's your call.
50 packs for $20.00 and in then end you end up with 18 coasters, the rest will not be able to play in your stand alone dvd player after 3 months or so.
Please do the MATH now...!!!

i read most of the thread here and I agree that memorex sucks..... I just was wondering if everybody knew that Best buy has the sony dvd's for 20 this week in the 50 stack. I also found then at comp usa for 20 also, bb was out so I picked them up at Comp. They had a ton today at my location. may go back tomorrow and get another.

yeah arniebear i been getting my Taiyo Yuden online also .as of late from meritline seems like there prices have been the best the TYGO1s running 33.91 and the TYGO2s running 36.91 per 100 and like you said theres NO guess work you know your getting Taiyo Yuden and NO fakes as long as you buy from meritline ,supermedia store, rima or newegg
