anyway, (totally off topic) i was at best buy, found an open box of verb's AZO 25 pack 16x dvd=r for 10 bucks, i snatched it up real quick.
then i found out my dvd player that i had just bought went on clearance, so i asked about it, and they gave me a credit of 40 bucks, so i bought 2 spools of the sony's they had advertised , 50 pack for 20 bucks..... i just wanted to share, as my wife could care less about what i do on media or anything puter related for that matter... at least in here, i know i will get more then someone's eyes rolled at me.. (i know, off topic, but i think this thread is dead now)

Ok so I shouldnt have generalized "memorex haters" with the poser tag...out loud anyways. Of course I'm gonna share my thoughts in threads like these that are filled with statements from members saying that memorex is crap, etc, etc...I use it everyday successfully. So, in my opinion it isnt. You guys act as if no one can disagree with you...and probably assume that I dont know what I'm talking about simply because I use a brand of media that you find unfavorable.
Offer newbies intelligent advice from now on...and not bias comments praising a specific media that "seems like it works better cuz it costs more." Maybe you guys are just sore cuz you cant go out and buy a 50 pack of DVDR's for $20, have them burn successfully, and last "more than 3 months"(That's funny..try 4 yrs and still playing perfectly) Anyways, you guys continue buying "that name"(cuz that's all youre paying for)..and I'll continue having more change in my pocket...see ya.
Sry again for the poser comment...hope I didnt hurt anyone's feelings too bad.

I buy my 50 packs of Sony, Verbatim and Fuji for 20.00 all the time. If Memorex works for you that is great, it did not for me and others that is all that is being said. Everyone has their opinion and you are entitled to yours.

If you would look back at this thread you would see that sony dvd 50 packs are 19.99 at best buy this week, so you are telling me you would walk right by those and pick up a pack of Memorex instead ???? plus every week they have sales on dvd media for about the same price as the sale this week on sony dvd's. i would like to point out that you are not saving any money by using Memorex media ,but if you prefer it thats fine with me because it's your money and my money goes on the sony media this week :)

Hey Hey...
Saw this thread and couldn't resist not saying something!
Anyways, man, I have GOT to admit there is like pure hatred for Memorex dvd's...but it's all good though.
Those who know me...know of my success rate with Memorex media, I think at this point I am a lone survivor. Even though I am buying my first set of TY soon enough, I may not even like them or I may get a bad batch, cause there IS a chance that it will happen.
Although, the facts stated are true, I will contend that I have had over 300 or so successful burns including integrity tests. One of my dvds I burned over a year and a half ago is STILL looking in pristine condition, now that doesn't mean that in the next day or so it won't start to crap out on me, but hey, why wish bad luck, right...?
In any case, not to drudge up a flame war or anything, but definately jokes are appreciated, you know who you all are :P, I will say that I have had and probably will have great success with the media. Even with the infamous CMC code that is the worst of all. I am not sure, but I think that the STAPLES where I get my media is coming from a good manufacturer.
I will say this, when the time comes when my media craps out on me, I would have since changed, but will definately let you all know.
Just be at least kind to those who want to see a good deal on the media, it is a good thing to voice your opinion, but at least let them experience the bad and the good. Can't protect them always now, can you?

Couldn't have said it better myself. I know the TY craze and the other brands such as Ritek, Verbatim, and others (sorry those are the only ones that I remember or "insert media brand here") are out there and are definately used by many. Like I said before, I am not biased to using one particular brand, I just want the freaking thing to play properly! That is all I can ever ask for.
To those who do want to use them, go ahead, never hurts to try something new...like if you get coasters, here are some suggestions that I have read from users:
Ideas for Memorex coasters

1. Frisbee for your dog
2. Decorate your room with them
3. Throw them at people you don't like
4. Give them as gifts to friends and family members who irritate you
5. Return them and get your money back!
LMAO!!!
But in any case, definately use what you want and don't let anyone influence you regarding how you should spend your money, if it doesn't work, well like a wise prophet once said, "Teach and learn."

Didn't know you were a moderator, guess they haven't changed your title yet. It would be good to keep the thread going so people with RELEVANT helpful information can at least voice what they know and how they can help with newbies choosing the right media.
