I have been using both Shrink and Crypt for a few months now and starting having problems just lately. I followed this guide to a "T" and check everything 3 times and come up against this error each time. Can anyone give me a hand? Please...

Here is a copy of the log from Crypt. I tried this twice back 2 back on XXX_STATE_OF_THE_UNION and TARZAN(MY DAUGHTERS) not mine, both with the same error.

@wildrice seriously you don't believe me? you don't have to do a search w/ your media id you will get hudreds Upon hundreds of ppl that say your media is not fit to put in there trash can much less they're burner
Quote:

this just might be the worst media manuf. that exist I've not personally heard of one that is worse.

anyhow the fact that this happened about three months after you started (hmmm this sounds familiar) leads me to believe you are storing your files on your hd shooting in the dark here but the following might help if not just triing to help pple not to make the mistake's I have made.
This is something that happened to me once there is a lot of moving of files during ripping compressing erasing the uncompressed burning. while Decrypting the files are just being written wherever there is room to squeeze them in This leads to broken files or files that are partitioned on your hd this will eventually cause your computer to stutter slightly during burning which will become evident during playback especially on sub-par media.
kkep your hd's clean store on media that's what it's for and de-frag often. hope this helps if it does'nt oh well just the rantings of a half-diranged lunatic nothing to worry about

Hm..it seems that your file is very near the limit of the disk size. Most crap media can't handle it when the writer works its way to the outer edges. Maybe if you get a better disk, such as Verbatims which are easily found in stores, you'll have better luck.

Also, try to update your firmware

@l8nights

I wasn't and did not distrust the numerous comments that have been addressed about using CMC Media. I was asking for help and trying to get to the bottom of an unusually irratating problem. My situation only started recently within the last few weeks. I wasn't 100% positive if was because I started using DVDD and SHRINK a completely differant way than I used to and was sure if was something I was doing incorrectly. Of course I had a strong feeling it could of been the media, but I wasn't sure. I was simply using trial and error to get to the bottom of the issue.

I will state that I did finally get to the bottom of the problem, but still can't explain why I was having problems. I hope what I am saying makes atleast a little sense. I think one of the problems was that I was using DVDD to burn from the HD, because everytime I attempted it error coded. Also I tweaked the target output to 4300/MB and the target source to burn w/NERO instead of DVDD. I am sure that this might be another no no, but "I stopped using my system during the INTIRE process"! I would have to say that using your system would and could play a large part of being successful. Especially using the video view during encoding process it seriously jacks up your CPU usage. Run your Task Manager in performance mode and do a side by side view and watch it roar (directed to those who don't know and don't understand the impact of system usage during encoding).

Last but not least the issue of media and the impact it has in the end result. I will admit that the nemesis is CMC MAG produced media and best sdvise is Quote- "STAY AWAY FROM CMC MAG PRODUCED MEDIA"! I have been successful using crap media, but the real question is how I have read that they tend to deteriorate in time. So I guess I have this to look forward to in time.

If anyone can think of anything I missed please feel free to jump in and give a helping hand. Trust me on this one I appreciate everyones help and critism.

I forgot to ask if anyone else has had or is having an error code while in the burn process, but seems to get automatically corrected. It seems as if it is happening just during the first few seconds the burn starts in SHRINK. It is trying to say that it's unable to burn any faster than 2X.The weird thing is I am not trying to burn any faster than that and especially when I have it set at 2X.

Understandable and I not saying that I didn't already know that, but I already knew that! My question is how does one prevent this from consistantly happening even though I have it set? If you don't mind giving me some help on maybe how to fix the problem or is it really a problem?

I thought when you didn't check the "Enable overlapped I/O" in SHRINK you are suppossed to be able to set your burn rate manually and this is exactly what I have done. Otherwise when you do it will set the rate for you for the best burn rate correct? If you have any suggestions or for that matter if anyone does I am up for options...

Thanks Wil'

lol I love it! I do have a bad habit of pointing out the obvious but I know when you already have a head ache trying to figure out problems and the brain get's to overload status we tend to overlook the mundane or is that just me lol any way's
since shrink does no burning whatsoever I'll assume you are setting the burn speed in decrypter

btw when using dvddecrypter it will default to the closest burn speed that your set-up will allow if you choose 16 then the fastest format of either your burner or media which ever is slower will be selected (assuming at least one is not capable of 16x)or if you select 1x it will burn at the slowest compatable speed that is what makes the max setting possible.

also I beleive the overlapping I/O thing pertains to the outdated ripping feature in shrink not to burning but very possible for me to be wrong as I have never tried to rip w/shrink and have never changed that setting

Ok then what I am understanding is that even though I am using Srink to do the Encoding w/Nero as the as the burner DVDD is doing all the behind the scenes shizit'? I only use DVDD to Rip and then Shrink/Nero and my burn speed is set @ 3X in Shrink it still uses DVDD's settings? I can't go any higher with my burn speed in Shrink (3X) because no matter what it resets to 2X! I will check the burn settings in DVDD and if it is set at 4X should I set it to atleast 6X so then it can atleast burn at 4X?

Thanks for the advise by the way...

hello again wildrice

sorry for the confusion either decrypter or Nero are doing your buning these are the only two that support burn @ once Iam soory I could not telepathically know what program you were reffering to as you say you only use decrypter to decrypt yet I believe it was your burning log earlier in this thread please be a dear and open Nero then select a burn speed and close I believe this will be your default next time you use the burn @ once feature am not sure because I never burn @ once nor am I a Nero expert rarely use it as a matter of fact.

like I said I am truely sorry for the confusion although I have a feeling I wouldn't have been able to avoid it. I will now remove my self from this thread so I will no longer be a hindrance to you.
good day sir.
