Guys just got flip top and swap disk 3.6. Installed it and I cant get it to work. I put the disc in and it makes a loud screeching noise. I pop open the flip top and the cd isnt spinning. It wont play anything at all now, and was working perfect before I unstalled flip top. What could have happend? BTW, do you insert the swap magic cd into the ps2 tray and than pop open the flip top and insert the backup. Was wondering in case I ever get it to work. Man this sucks! Also, when you go into browser congifuration it says "disc error, or read disc error.

1st thing to try is Loosening the screws on the flip top...
Sometimes if you tighten them to tight when putting it back together. It may cause the discs not to spin right, laser will be making noises because it's putting strain on the lense to read the disc...
So try loosening the screws and see what happens

Open the flip top insert the Swapmagic disc turn on the PS2 with the fliptop open... Does it spin? Does the Disc Boot?
Do any of your originals boot?
could try the laser tweak/fix and see if that does anygood.. But it the disc isn't spining .. hmmm make sure the ribbon cable that goes to the eject button isn't bent...

Ok, open up flip top and inserted swap magic and turned power on and, it started to spin but when it did it spun the disc right off than it stopped spinning. It was playing originals earlier today before I installed the flip top,now it wont even play those.

Thats exactly how I have it. Could it have something to do with that ribbon cable? If I press down really hard on the top it makes a real loud screaching noise.

Checked guys, everything is connected. It seems the ribbon cable may be a ltl pinched, but I dont see any other way to put it in without it being pinced some. Guys I am begging what can I do? I will be my life that the laser is not messed up.

Your ribbon cable wouldn't do that. Thats only provides power to the buttons and it lets the motherboard know when the buttons are pressed. The ribbon cable has nothing to do with the DVD-ROM drive. Try putting your original case back on and see if it works then. I don't think it's your laser.

I think magnet disk is installed right. It played perfect until I installed the flip top. Now nothing at all. I agree about it shouldnt be the ribbon cable but some say it could be and honestly I have no idea what to do now

You've probably stuffed the ribbon cable. Inspect the ribbon cable to see if you've done any damage to it (even if it is pinched it is stuffed). If it's stuffed you'll have no problems getting another one - but you'll have no PS2 for a few days!
