Help!
I have Win XP Home SP2. After a period of time, my machine reboots before it can actually copy a DVD. It happens while encoding and sometimes while buring. Can somebody help?

rfernan,
Welcome to the forum. When the computer re-boots it is telling you that you have a problem w/ heat or registry conflicts. Suggest you d/l a free registry cleaner and clean the registry.( you can Google for that) To verify heat open the case and try burning a movie then. If you are OK in burning then you need to add more fans to decrease the heat. If it still re-boots then you have a problem w/ either the MOBO or the CPU. Verify all cables are connected properly and the fan on the CPU is operating properly

Windows XP has an error recovery system built in. One of the "Options" available is a complete system re-boot; it's the default setting. You can change that setting so that the program error reporting program TELLS YOU (more or less) what went wrong and where.

Go to the Control Panel, Select "System" then click on the Advanced Tab. At the bottom you will find the (Startup and Recovery) options. Click the "Settings" button then look at the "System Failure" options. Select the setup that you think will give you the best chance of finding the error.

There are a LOT of ways to set up Windows XP's error detection and recovery system, but learning how to use it isn't that difficult.
