I am trying to copy a Stargate series dvd. I used decrypter and I noticed an error in the log: drive D:\(fat32) does not support single files >4gb. I used dvd shrink to copy. It did not analyze the movie and it usually does. When it was decoding, it didn't get very far and then another error came up: paging file is too small dor this operation to complete. Can anyone help me. I am running a brand new computer with Xp service 2 pak.
Are you using DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD to your hard drive and then using Shrink (with Nero) to burn? If so, does DVD Decrypter successfully write the files to your hard drive but Shrink is just having a hard time encoding them? I'm just trying to figure out if your problem is with DVD Decrypter or Shrink.
"drive D:\(fat32) does not support single files >4gb"
Well, that's not really an error. DVD Decrypter is just telling you that drive D is fat32 and as such it can't handle file sizes greater than 4 gig. Normaly that shouldn't be a problem, given...
In Shrink, under Edit, Preferences, Output Files, as long as you have a check next to "Split VOB files into 1 GB size chunks" you should be alright as far as Shrink is concerned.
If your paging file is too small you can increase it.
Start, Control Panel, System, Advanced, under Performance click Settings, click Advanced tab, Virtual Memory, Change (you can increase the size of the paging file)
Yes to the first line above. I looked at what you wre talking about and I have no idea what to change it to. This is what I currently have in my system:
size for C drive- initial size 288
maximum size 576
all drives- mimimum size 2mb
recommended size 286mb
currently allocated- 288mb
I'll get back to you this afternoon. I have to go to work. Thank you for the response.
The general guideline Windows recommends is to have the paging file 1.5 times your RAM. So if you had 256 MB of RAM set the paging file to 384 MB. Most of the time Windows will just set the paging file size for you automatically.
First off, make sure you have enough free disk space on whatever drive your paging file is on. If your disk space is too low Windows won't be able to even allocate the max size that your paging file is set to now.
You can move the paging file to a different drive that has more free space if you want. If you are low on space on your C drive try setting your paging file to use drive D.
If Shrink is still having problems You could then try increasing the paging file, maybe max size 768, and see if Shrink can handle that. If that doesn't do it then I'm thinking it might be something else besides the paging file that is giving Shrink a problem.
