Ok, I've been in this "business" for almost 6 months and I've jumped from one-click encoders to more serious one such as Canopus or Mainconcept. Now I'd like to take a leap and go to the next stage which is, according to what I've read here, CCE.

Doubts:

Are there any forehand warnings about it? Such as very
complex to use? Is there any trial version?

k0k0m0 if your using Canopus and Mainconcept there is no leap what so ever. It can't hurt to try both Basic and SP. SP has a few more options for greater control but they are very similar.

Really??? I thought CCE was for extremely professional use. Also, I've heard about using it with another program combined?

If you can get used to the ugly Canopus interface you can get used to CCE. What other program are you talking about, Rebuilder?

Well to use CCE SP you generally have to use a Frameserver with it that is if your Source Files are anything other than AVI files with Uncompressed Audio, also the Settings in CCE SP are a Bit hard to figure out especially the Quality and Filter settings but if you thuroughly read the Manual that comes with it you will get an idea what to set the Settings to based on the Type of Video you are encodeing...
You should also have a Good Idea of what 3:2 and 2:3 Pulldown are and when to use them but other that these things you should be able to figure it out as long as you have a good working knowlege of Digital video....

Is Quality WAY much better? by the way, what's frameserving?

Quality is subjective.
Some encoders do better on some source files than others.
If you don't know what frameserving is, you don't need CCE.

CCE is best used with avisynth to frameserve, and for all that work, it's NOT necessarily any better than TMPGEnc (just faster), or Canopus or Mainconcept.

OK...

then, for all exposed here, I don't think it'll make SUCH big difference. I'm using Mainconcept for almost everything (except for certain cases where I use Canopus) and honestly I'm happy with the results obtained.

The grass is NOT always greener...
Stick with what you know. CCE is not necessarily better than MC or Canopus, just different.
