http://www.exploitstation.com and
http://www.ps2hd.com
those are my favorite sites to read through for information.
search them, and you will absolutely find your answers.
i can tell you the short version:
use the latest uLaunchELF (it comes with network support)
use an ftp client of your liking on the pc side
mixitup and throw some magic in it and you should be able to make that junk work.

Also, look into HDL_Dumb and HDL_Dump on exploitstation.com. You can transfer ISOs over the network (it is nice to not have to take the HDD out everytime).

side note- Aren't Western Digital HDD's too big???
You need the HD loader or use the MC exploit to be able to runHDloader w/o a disc

i know what you mean about taking the hdd out, but i think i would still prefer to do that anyway, and use winhiip. minutes versus hours. if i really wanna get into a game fast, i'll just winhiip me a game and get to it in 15min or less depending on the size of the game and my laziness factor.
oh, i also got one of those hot swap drive bays installed into my pc. mostly for winhiip-ing without having to:
1.turn my pc off
2.open it up
3.hookup the hdd
4.start back up
5.winhiip a game
6.turn back off
7.unhook hdd
8.close pc
9.reconnect ps2
10. play game
that thing rocks so hard. now that i think about it, i think it's almost the same number of steps, but without turning the pc all the way off or opening the side of the case just to hook it up to a potentially unavailable slot, or disabling one of the devices already working that you'll need.
1. connect the hdd to the hotswap tray
2. turn on power to hotswap
3. wait 60seconds for hdd to register
4. winhiip a game
5. turn off power to hotswap
6. disconnect hdd
7. reconnect ps2
8. play a game
well not quite the same number of steps, but hot swap makes it seem so much shorter because you dont sit there fumbling with the insides of the pc and you can keep working on stuff if you need to.

Did you switch the HD setting to Master? it has to be Master while in the PS2 and slave while connected to the PC. Also in regards to winhiip'ing and your hd, I bought I really cheap external enclosure for my HD, and it connects using usb 2.0 to the PC. I can get a game, rip it and winhiip it and be playing in a matter of minutes, no disassembly of my pc required.

you are NOT supposed to see the hdd in the ps2 browser (unless you have a modchip that allows you to). the only way you will be able to use the hdd, is with the HDLoader program. either original CD or using the MemoryCard Exploit.
using the MC exploit, you can run other nonstandard programs for the ps2 and still be able to use the hdd in your machine.

YOU NEED TO READ.
http://www.exploitstation.com/index.php?page=faq and
http://ps2hd.com/forums/faq.php?faq=noobfaq#faq_exploit001
these explain what the MC exploit are, and how to do it with various methods. i find that the codebreaker exploit method worked the best since i already had the codebreaker and a USB drive. if you do not have these things, there are other ways to do it. you just need to read through the tutorials and faqs to find what you're looking for. trust me it works. i got started on the second week of may, and 3 days later, i figured out all i needed. some of it seems complicated, but it's not hard one you get started and try stuff.

Has anyone tried this with a v12? I've read up on XCM HD Adapter kit & USBextreme. USBextreme is not as fast playing games thru the USB 1.1 port, but atleast u can load multiple games onto the HDD. It also keeps your warranty intact, so you don't have to open/solder anything. the XCM HD Adapter kit requires removing your PSTwo slim's cover, and soldering in a few places. So what's the route to go, with v12?

I have a Western Digital Drive in my PS2. It almost fit originally but then I had to modify the drive a bit by drilling out the wall in between the power and jumpers. I know, I know I am cheap. I just hated to buy a drive with this one sitting here collecting dust.

nothing wrong with being cheap. if all i had was WD, then i'd use it too. but lucky for me i had maxtor and seagate. those just happened to fit automatically, so i ran with it. but once again, nothing wrong with being cheap.

SuperXL & jcjohnson, can you post the model #s of those drives? Maxtor compatibility is pretty high, but Seagate is not the same. Atleast we'll have an idea of which ones work 100%.

Thanks for the link, psxzombie. I've seen about 20-30 drives at a few websites, but not hundreds. Very cool! The XCM HD Connect on a v12 is a good idea. I just need to find a dependable installer *hint*.

About the HD Advance, when i want to save my game where does the saved file go to? Is it will be on the memory card or is it on a HDD? If the saved file cant be saved on the HDD is there anyway I can save it on there? Thank You Everyone.
