I just recently used Shrink for the first time with no problems. Its ease of use, speed etc are truly remarkable. My question is this: I've noticed some of you say you use it with Nero or some other program & not on its own; Why is this? I've used it 5 or so times all by it self with no problems. Is there an advantage to using it in conjunction with another program?

DVD Shrink is a decrypter and shrinker. It does not burn on its own. Nero and DVD Decrypter can be used by DVD Shrink to burn.

So Shrink uses Nero wothout me starting Nero? I have Nero 6 on my computer; but when I use Shrink, I never open Nero. I just start Shrink, choose Full disc/back-up! and away it goes...

Obviously the "burn with..." box is selected for Nero. Check it out under your options in Shrink.

You can find it under the Edit/Preferences/FileI/O tabs.

That's the same combination I use on majority of my backups. It's a great setup, but it can't pull off the new sony arcos encryption. That is where a background ripper called AnyDVD by slysoft comes in.It'll automatically pull off that encryption and help DVD Shrink rip through them.

If you run into any of the newer movies that give you a crc error during the initial analyzation in DVD Shrink-the quick 60 second analyzation, AnyDVD will usually work.

Dvd decrypter is also another handy free ripper/ burner program. It can sometimes rip the newer encryptions and problematic originals that may be damaged. It is like DVD Shrink-those 2 programs will no longer be updated so the program called AnyDVD will help.

Just a few tips in case you run into problems on certain titles from sony.If you encounter one of them, you can try that AnyDVD program free for 21 days.

Good Luck and burn on!
