I have found alot of discussion on this topic, but nothing I have tried has worked. I used to have no issues with my DVD +RW when backing up DVDs.
My system contains a Sony CD +RW (D:) and a HL-DT-ST DVD +RW GRA-4120B (E:) burner. Back on the 23rd I bought a Sony Double Layer DVD +RW burner. I took out my CD +RW and replaced it with this Sony DVD burner. It didn't work, so I swapped it out again with the CD burner and returned the Sony DVD burner. Since then (I think it was Friday the 26th), I was able to back-up a DVD. I tried again on Tuesday the 30th and when I tried to open the DVD with DVD Shrink I got the following error :
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
Copy Protection Error
Request could not be performed because of an I/O device error
I tried a couple other discs (including a disc I have backed up before) and I always get the same error message. I also tried to use DVD Decrypter to burn a DVD and got the following error messages :
I/O Error
Device[0:1:0] HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GRA-4120B F114 (E:)

When I hit continue, the next error was essentially the same except the last line read :
Interpretation:Logical Unit Communication CRC Error (Ultra-DMA/32)
Through this forum I have found that this is supposedly an error associated with Nero. I have tried the following things :
1) Uncheck the burn with Nero option in the I/O settings tab in DVD Shrink preferences
2) Tried to open Nero first, and then running DVD Shrink
3) Updating Nero (went to 6.6.0.15 from Nero 6.0.0.0)
4) Reinstalling/Updating DVD Shrink (from 3.1 to 3.2)
5) Uninstalling both my CD +RW & DVD +RW drivers
6) Installed DVD43 & AnyDVD [which also won't read a disc from the DVD drive ... it gives me an error message with 4 points, 2 of which are basically saying the drive is rpc2 and not rpc1]
Right now I am at work so can't answer more specific questions that require me to be on my computer, but if anyone else has any ideas/comments it would be greatly appreciated. I will be home around 3:30 pm CST and on my computer, so I can answer any other questions you may have to help me resolve this issue. THANKS!!!
