Can dvd shrink 3.2.0.15 write to a "dual layer dvd" ???

i want to backup a music/concert dvd.

even with maximum compression it stays with 5,5 GB...i thought i could burn it into a (n empty) dual layer dvd.

has anyone tried? is it possible with dvdshrink?

do i have to use another program?

what should i do?

If you are burning to a DVD-9 you are making a 1:1 copy, DVD Shrink wouldn't be required. Rip the dvd with DVD Decrypter as an ISO image, then burn that image back with Decrypter.

I'm not sure what you are using to burn with.I'll guess and say you are using Nero?

Try DVD Decrypter,works well with both DVD Shrink and Nero and it's very easy using ISO mode. It should be quicker than using DVD Shrink.
It's free!

For dual layers:
Open up dvd decrypter
Mode/Iso read-files go to hard drive
Mode/ISO write- find that mds file and click the burn Icon.

Dvd shrink:
Edit
Preferences
Click on dvd-5/scroll till dvd-9/click ok.

I haven't tried it using DVD Shrink,but decrypter should be the best route to go.

If u have used DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink to ripp and compress the files and if thier still bigger that what can b fitted onto a single layered disc.... U can do 2 other things either:

1)Use DVD Shrink to compress the compressed files again... basically all this consists of is repeating what u did the first time with DVD Shrink...

2)U can also use CloneDVD 2 to compress the movie while u are going through CloneDVD's wizard it will have the level of compression at the bottom of the screen...

Here is both the guide and program for CloneDVD 2 (note this program is shareware)

No matter what I've done with decrypter and shrink, they always tell me that there isn't enough room on the disk. And that is with a dl burner and verbatim dl disk. Sucks! Same with Nero, they all recognize the full filespace available, but then won't write.
