@alkohol and kivory666, I have elarned a lot about media from you guys, and I noticed saugmon used the Office Depot brand name which were Ritek G05! Is that normal and if I can find them would that be a good purchase. I usually like to stock up and I just purchased the FuJi's +R madein Japan coded as YUDEN000 02's from Best Buy and Sony's +R 1x-8x made in Japan, coded as YUDEN000 02's from Staples. Just wondering your opinion. I would appreciate saugmon's opinion as well (learned a lot from you as well my friend!).

Only Use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatims, Maxell (made in JApan), and Sony (made in Japan).

You may be able to find Maxell MIJ at London Drugs. They were 50 for $17.99 CAD a few weeks ago.
Also, I believe Best Buy and FutureShop are the same company.

@MovieDud,
I know for sure that the Ritek G05 is a another high grade media and is as good as the Yuden, Maxell and Verbatim. However, I've never used any Ritek before, but all I can say is they're good. To be honest, I primarily backup all my PS2 games and dvd movies on genuine Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD+R (YUDEN000-T02, including the Fuji 8X DVD+R "Made In Japan"), Maxell 8X DVD+R "Made In Japan", and some on Verbatim only. In another simple phrase, I've had more experiences hands on them Yuden (Fuji) and Maxell (M.I.J) more than any other brands of media. Obviously, that is what I prefer and deem to be the best combination that has got both compatibility and quality for me. Furthermore, my Sony dvd burner and plus both of my stand alone dvd players are in love with them Yuden and Maxell incredibly.
In the end, it all boils down to your choice of preferences and experiences. Therefore, use whatever that you believe it's the best for you alright.

@mackdl - Thanks for your suggestions. However, there are no London Drugs within Ontario.
Actually, I am happy with my MIT Maxell as Saugmon said it is as good as the MIJ one.

@moviedud
i have used well over 500+ Ritek G05s from over 3 years ago now, i did a few tests last month to see if they were holding up or not, FLAWLESS...i randomly picked about 5 discs to try, each of them holding their own very nicely~ :)
i PERSONALLY consider my Ritek G05s #3 on my list of recommended media that i would use...Taiyo Yuden #1, Verbatim #2, Ritek #3~ this is just MY preference in media as i have used MANY-A-DISC since i began dvd burning...thousands of discs later, i still will trust and put my VALUABLE backups on any of the aforementioned 3. :)
as with saugmon finding the G05s under the Office Depot brand, that is a GOOD deal~ :) my local office depot just recently closed down earlier at the beginning of this month, so, that retail store is no longer an option for me to purchase media from...i bought mostly Maxells from Office Depot when they had their frequent sales, only used 100 pack each of the 8x DVD-R and 8x DVD+R (both MADE IN JAPANS), they are good quality media, my testing on them just hasn't been as extensive as my Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim testing, but they are good quality from my limited 200 disc tests :)
if you can get them, i would...the sales on office depot's own branded discs are very good, less than $0.30/disc~ sounds good to me. :)
Recommended Media:
Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

To make it simple, you can buy any of Yuden (Fuji & Sony M.I.J), Verbatim, Maxell (Hitachi or Ritek) and don't need to be worry about getting coasters. All of the above are high quality media.

I didn't realize London Drugs was a BC thing. Usually you have all the stores that we don't. No BestBuy or Circuit City on Vancouver Island.
Yes, I've also had great success with Maxell's MIT media. Ritek R01 (4X) and Ritek R03. Maxell is good media, only coasters were user error. I emailed Maxell Canada when MIT started showing up on the shelves. They assured me quality media standing up to the Maxell name.
