There are no silly questions we all had to learn, and we are all here to share with others. If you have the little red fox in the tray it is working, it is not working if he is greyed out. Just put a DVD in your drive and double click on the little fox and you will see the protection broken. Here is a guide the gives you an overview of both programs

I am trying to rip some movies as backups which I bought. I have a LG GSA4040B DVD writer & a Liteon DVD-Rom & using WindowXPpro. Some movies are OK and some, the drives just don't detect them prompting "BLANK" or "INSERT A DISK"! At first, I use DVDIdle & now switched to AnyDVD. I use DVDdecrypter, DVDshrink & Intervideo DVDcopy. I am now trying DVDfabDecrypter. All of these are no help & cannot see the DVDs on the drives. The drives just won't read the them. Please help... thanks...

I just have a question....
If he just goes through DVD Decrypter of DVDFAB Decrypter doesn't that make it compatible in all regional coded areas???

With all the programs you should be able to back-up a movie. The disk must be dirty or your burner. I have had this problem before and after cleaning it worked fine. Get a cleaning kit and see if that works.

Hi everybody,
The easy way out is to reformat the HDD. The registry is corrupted. All the ripping programs just can't detect the oriental DVDs! If you format a HDD, perhaps Windows2000 O/S would help.
Cheers,

I was looking over the settings in DVDdecrypter and (I wish I could remember the tab) I saw a check box for "ELBY CDIO", I think that is what it was called. Is there any reason to check that box if I already have AnyDVD running in the background? Would that automatically check AnyDVD for assistance in decryption?
Or just forget it and have AnyDVD running?

The Elby CDIO is an intereface just as aspi, patin couffin, spti are and it is a layer between programs. If you have CloneDVD installed even if you have just installed the trial, and whether it expired or not, the Elby will remain and work. Olli who is a developer of Clone, and posts over at CDFreaks, suggests using the Elby if you are running AnyDVD, whether this makes a difference or not I do not know. I have tried it with all the interfaces, except the asapi, and the program performs well. Default is the Windows spti, if you are having not problems just leave it.

Well I had a problem with a DVD lately. It's The Marksman. When I first entered the disc in my drive I saw it is a single layer disc and I was surprised cause I have not seen a single layer dvd movie for a long time. But when I tried backing it up with Decrypter it had a read error after the 19 first mbs. I then saw that it was written in PTP and not in OTP as most of the discs that I remember. Then I tried making the image with alcohol setting the skip disc errors on. And I saw that it had a lot of read errors after the first 19mb just like the safedisc protected discs. But it took way too long to finish so I stopped it. Anyone has the same problem and has a solution to it?
