Hi, new to this. Please help, I am trying to backup the 2nd series of 24 but I sometimes get problems whilst analysing but other times it is at the encoding stage. Shrink encounters an error and then closes itself. But I then start it again and it goes on for a bit longer. There doesn't seem to be any reason for it. I have used DVD decrypter first and then Shrink. I have managed to do 2 disks so far but they were having the same problems but with determination, I have got the 2 disks burned successfully. Does Shrink always do this or is it me or is it what I am backing up? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Thanks, I assume I will still need to use decrypter & Shrink. If yes, what order do I use the three? Thanks

How much ram do you have, and are you running any processes in the background while encoding? Do not run internet while encoding. It could also be a overheating problem. Try and raise the comp off of the surface and you can place a fan to blow on the comp. There are also cooling pads available to put underneath.

Also check and make sure your drive has DMA enable for it, here is a guide

I have just switched the laptop on so it shouldn't be heat, and it got to 28% encoding before I had the error. I have 448mb ram. I use AnyDVD but I do not have internet connection open. I have tried using a fan behind it but still got the same problem. Thanks....

What error are you getting, encoding is CPU intensive meaning it is using 100% of your processor. Have you tried using CloneDVD to encode I have found it is not as hard on the processor as Shrink?

Also, try turning off the preview screen while analyzing and encoding, it saves power.
