I understand there were some issues for DVD Shrink developers and the site was temporarily out of order with a huge banner reading "DVD SHRINK IS NO MORE!" or something to that effect. Is it back? Will the software continue to be upgraded? Is there a reliable source where one can check for this kind of info?

No more updates. Check into DVDFab Decryptor as a replacement alternative.

@nicken
Shrink hasn't been updated since sometime last summer. The developer works for Nero now. No real issues just probably a conflict of interest.

Nero recode2 is the program that the creator of dvd shrink created,and is a little complicated that shrink, but quicker,and less strain on your processor.Recode2 will not pull off an encryption,but anydvd will work.

Some of the newer encryptions like the sony arrcos can cause dvd shrink to give us a CRC error during the initial analysis of an original dvd. Dvd shrink needs help to pull off the newer encryptions. That is where a program by slysoft called anydvd comes in. Anydvd runs in the background and pulls off the encryption so dvd shrink can rip right through them. No extra steps needed,just activate and leave it run in your lower tray. You can download the free 21 day trial of anydvd here in the software tab or clicking on the blue link.

Now with dvd decrypter no longer being updated,it will rip through the encryptions for today,but next month? anydvd should also allow dvd decrypter to help rip them.

Edit: The blue links for anydvd aren't working. Here's where you can get it:
