I copied a few movies with DVD shrink which works well. I can't copy the copied disk again to make another copy. (copy from a copy). Does anyone else have this problem. I tried to use Clone DVD and it states missing VOB files. But the movie works fine on my DVD players. Please tell me if there is something that needs to be done in order to make a copy from a copy.

Thank you.

If its already copied b4 just Decrypt it again with DVD Decrypter in file mode and do that then just use DVD Decrypter again in write mode and burn to disc or u can use CloneDVD 2.

What brand name/format/and speed rate are those backkup discs that you are trying to re-rip?

What's the brand name and model# of your DVD-RW drive?

Single DVD-RW drive or both dvd-rom and DVD-RW drives?

To be able to re-rip backups, they must be on quality media, along with a 4x max burn speed on the ones you are trying to rip. This cuts down on the errors. Your stand alone players will be able to read through those errors, but dvd-rom drives will have more problems.

If you are going to use Decrypter to burn you need to rip in iso mode. Decrypter only burns iso files not Video.

Single drive: DVD Decrypter Mode ISO read and Mode ISO write. That's the quickest without encoding with DVD Shrink.

Dual drive: DVD Shrink like a normal backup or DVD Decrypter ISO read and write.

To be a little riskier with dual drives, Nero or any other copy disc program-rip and burn on the fly.Since there are no longer any encryptions.

You have several options, hopefully DVD Decrypter ISO read an write will do the job. Can't tell you what else to try if they fail.

I don't have clone DVD, but when shrink can't make a copy of a copy, and the error in shrink is the dreaded CRC error, it is either:
1. The media is bad/scratched on the copy or the burner reading copy has it's laser lens dirty, and or firmware/hardware problems and can't make a copy.
2. The original was bad/scratched and transfered over to the copy, or the copy was burned at too high a rate (which seems to be part computer/operator/DVD media, the better any of them the faster you can go, but bad media will take out the best operator or computer out there. To be on the safe side, the recommendations seems to be burn at 4x max. I burn at 4x to 8x depending on what i am backing up, and how important it is.
3. Bad Media
I use the best media out there imho Tayio Yudens, but all the top media is very close to equal, and it seems all the crap media is equally crappy. There are some marginal media, or in between the best and worst, but that is just my opinion. When you can't make a copy of a copy that plays well, it can most often be traced back to the media being some crap brand and it has errors that may not be noticed on playback but will be picked up when you try to copy. The playbacks can compensate for a variable amount of errors depending on brand and age, but a copy program will usually either tell you about those errors, or fail when they reach them (depending on program used). I know some of you out there have no choice in what media you can get, or afford, but the rest of us do have a choice. I figure if i buy the best media, that is probably going to have more to do with my copy being a successful one, than anything else i do in the burning process. If you use DVD Decrypter, it will tell you if you have CRC errors as will shrink, but DVD Decrypter can be made to extract or ignore CRC errors. Post if you need to know how to set that up, or cant figure it out in one of the excellent guides here at AD. And the free program DVD Identifier avialable here under software tab is an excellent program for identifiying who made those problem discs. Post that media info here if you would please, as Saugmon asked also, and we can get an opinion as to if the media is suspect.

Hi,
and Thanks for listing the DVD Decrypter ISO method. I knew it was fast, and had used it before, but this time i checked the burn time. Disc used: Deadwood season 2 two episodes, size 3.98GB or so CMC Mag AE1 media(must have got to this one in time as i got no CRC errors). It took DVD Decrypter ISO>WRITE 9 mins to make a copy of a copy extracted by using DVD Decrypter ISO>READ. It came out perfectly. I seem to use DVD Shrink on most non-encrypted movie backups by using disk open>backup method, and i use the burn with Nero option burning at 8x. That method using open disk, and back up takes almost 18 minutes. Oh, and i did the DVD Decrypter test at a 4x burn rate, not the 8x i use on DVD Shrink. I didn't record how long it took for DVD Decrypter to extract the files to HD, but it was pretty fast. I can re-test if anyone needs the info as far as Decrypter ISO>READ time. When i try Nero alone, using copy on the fly option, i make coasters, but i need to check my nero burn log to see whatsup there, and this is the shrink forum, not nero,, and torant007 was asking the questions here. Anyways, whatever method works for you go for it, but Decrypter ISO mode is faster than using shrink, at least for me. I just like the way shrink looks, and if you get an error, you can see it when shrink freezes up if you are using the preview, and go back and look at that area during playback on a standalone, to see if you can see a glitch. Sorry for that run on sentence.. Just my 2 cents.

Die CMC Mag!!!
