recently I bought a new Benq 1640 burner and really love it. I have burned about 20 movies so far but lately I have been using shrink and decrypter to burned it at 4x speed. Now it seems some of the movies that I have been burning have been skipping frames or stopping completely then starting again. The burns goes through with no write errors on decrpyter. Should I increase the burn speed?
Any ideas would help?

On these playback issues:
Is this while you view them on a stand alone player or viewing those backups on your benq 1640 on your pc?

Usually media quality is the culprit.

What format/speed rate/and brand name is your blank media?

Usually poor quality media/too fast of burnspeed or combination of both are the reasons.

Are you using adhesive labels by any chance?

The general consensus in the forum is that the labels could throw off the balance of the dvd. I personally don't use the labels -- use a sharpie instead, so I can't give any first-hand info on this.

tsqiare43 is correct. Adhesive labels retain heat and causes your DVD player to overheat and/or undesirable playback. You can go here for more information about labels:

Try removing the labels (if you can) and playing them again. Go here for more info on why not to use labels. - http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28604

Thanks for all your help. I burned Fever Pitch for a friend and it froze, skip and freeze every minute but my copy was flawless, so I suggested a new dvd player with Progressive scan. Now I burned the Gods must be crazy and had skips, freezing and other things so I believe that the disc was bad, But I will tried not labeling the discs. but it looks so nice in the case.
any other help will be appreciate. thanks

If your backup freezes, stutters, skips, or has some pixelation, it is more than likely due to poor quality media being used. Cheap media is poorly manufactured around the edge of the disc, hence the reason why it mostly skips or freezes from the middle toward the end of the movie. The two main things to consider first are:

1. Is it cheap media that you are using? (ie. some off brand you bought at a local computer store/fair, even a store like Circuit City or Best Buy sells cheap low quality media.)

2. How fast are you burning? - Burn no faster than 4X, might have to go down to 2X with really cheap media.

Also, are you using adhesive labels on your back ups? If so, try removing the labels (if you can) and playing them again. Go here for more info on why not to use labels. - http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28604

Also try lowering outcome the "Target DVD size".

Open DVD Shrink. Click "Edit", then "Preferences". On the first tab at the top in the drop down box, change it from "DVD-5 (4.7GB) to "Custom" and enter a number of 4200MB (4464MB is burning to the edge of the disc, you want to stay away from the edge as the edge of cheap media (disc's) are poorly manufactured).
