I have just loaded a video to my HD in mpeg format, its over the 4.7g and I would like to put it onto 1 DVD possibly using shrink however I cannot get the file to the Shrink proggy. At present its just sitting on my HD any clues on how I go about "Shrinking" it?

I dont think Shrink can recode just an mpeg file. You would have to use somthing like Nero vision express to do it.

Would need more information. Where did you get the file from? Download it? Rip it off DVD disc? What type of Mpeg file is it?

Its from a Video that I own, I copied on to HD in mpeg2 format and it exceeds normal 4.7 g dvd length so I thought I could use Shrink to get it to fit. I have used process of copying video to DVD before with no problem(but they were less than 4.7g) just using Nero but this time even Nero doesnt get it to fit.

Well you cant load an Mpeg file into DVD Shrink as far as I know you cant. You can load it in Nero Vision express and have it encode to DVD and to fit DVD5 thats how i do my captuing of VHS movies. Capture them then use Nero Vision express to create and fit the DVD onto a DVD5 disc.

Just an update to let you know how things went. I ran the mpeg file through VSODivx toDVD and then that file through DVDShrink after which I burned using Decrypter. New DVD works like a charm. Thanks for your help. I dont understand how it worked out, it was only trial and error but it was a success

hi
i would of did this route (no encoding = NO! loss of quailty) drop the mpeg2 dvd compliant file in tmpgenc dvd author to make vobs/dvd (only authors, not encodes)
then if needed loaded to shrink (only compression once)
your way lost quailty on divxtodvd then another loss in dvd shrink!!!
Nothing here to see, move along folks.
