Hey guys,
I started this thread because i didn't think any of the others were the same as my problem. I used to use DVD Decrypter and dvd shrink. I had one of my hard drives crap on me and i had to reformat and reinstall windows and everything else. Dvd d still works fine. I use it and then use fairuse to make xvid movies that i can watch on my pc. I used to use shrink to shrink the .iso file fron dvd d then use dvd d to burn the movie. However, I do all of the same steps as i did before and now Shrink doesn't work...or maybe it's dvd d . When the disc is finished burning i can't play it in the computer or on my home dvd player. When i insert the disc into the computer it asks me if i want to play the dvd with whatever program.....but it wont play. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks guys.

I wouldnt worry very much, the problem will be solved, both decrypter and shrink are stable and trustworthy!
Try unistalling and installing both, they install pretty quick!
Also try burning the iso file with Nero and also try decrypting in File mode and then burning with Nero!
Do you have a problem working in file mode ??
Does any of the above make sence to you?
Let me know, i work with decrypter and shrink every day! :-)

Thanks, Staifan.
I never worked in ifo mode. I usually use .iso, because i then use shrink to shrink it and tell it to burn with dvd d. That's how i learned it in a tutorial i read someplace, so that how i've been doing it. Also, i don't burn all of the movies to disc. Some of them i take the .iso and use fairuse wizard to turn them into Divx/xvid movies. That's why i do that way. Will i be able to work the same way in .ifo mode? Also, i tried uninstalling and reinstalling both dvdd and shrink. No luck. I wonder if i didn't set them up right. I can find the tutorial i first used to set them up a few months ago, so i kinda went from memory. Maybe i didn't check off or uncheck some options that i was suposed to. I dunno. Any help would be great. Thanks again.

@kismeras:
If you're using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink, click on the link in my sig. ScubaPete has a very detailed guide in how to use both these programs. There might be some steps that you missed from memory.
Also, download the most current version of both proggies here at aD.
Good Luck!

I use FairUseWizard to convert the .Iso files from DVDD to Divx/Xvid. The program takes a long time 2-3 hours. However, it it worth it. Completely easy to use and Divx/Xvid files are only 700mb, so they fit on a cd. I store them on my Network attached Hard drive. That way I can stream them to my media adapter in my living room and watch them on my tv. This is the link to the site http://www.fairusewizard.com/
Thanks again, hope you like fair use wizard. I think it's great.

thanx ksimeras,
i will give it a try and i will let you know...
By the way, you know there are some desktop dvd players that support DivX and they are not that expensive either... i mean that is an alternative if you want to use the DivX movies all around the house, or somewere else.
Will keep you posted of my progress!

ok, thats cool
I live in Greece myself.
The only downside of trying to get a product in the U.S. is that you guys are a bit funny with copyrights and region prohibitions,i hope that DivX players are not in anyway included in those laws.... i am sure u know what i mean....
Anyway, i will find a model for sure, i would think that the "Wiz" or "Best buy" would be a good place to look, but i will come up with a specific model and let u know !!

Wow, you know about the Wiz?!? That's awesome. Do you guys have the Wiz in Greece? We don't have the Wiz anymore they went out of business years ago. Wow, that takes me back to the 80's. Where in Greece do you live? I used to know a young lady at school here, years ago. She was from Greece and moved back to Athens. Bessie Petru....ah yes, i'll never forget her.
Oh about the divx players. I have heard of some dvd players that play divx too, but i have not seen any yet. However, it could be because i never looked before. I will keep looking. I have a cousin that works at best buy, i'll ask him. Talk to ya later.

hahaha
Really, the wiz is closed....
Shit where have i been...
But regarding the 80s, i think you got it wrong, i am fairly certain, i bought smth at the "wiz" in 2000, and i can remember checking out some 3d goggles or smth at the Wiz in New York around the same time, so, i guess they were around all through the 90s'.....
I guess you are an "old fart" also right??
I live in Athens, and i dont think i know your friend .... (lol) but i think this discussion must continue in private.... so if you want go ahead and e-mail me.... staifan@otenet.gr , so we can pick this up!!
we talk later, got to go home now (was at the office)
