it is unbelievable, that I' haven't had a successful backup for ages. About a month! I have used...............wasted, 9 discs in the process. I used to be able to burn them with ease, But now even games which require an ISO to be simply burnt don't seem tow work such as fahrenheit, Total overdose, Snipr elite. They all don't work!!!!! I tried rebuilding the image, I think my burner has a problem with it!!!!!!!!! BTW, all my other backups work fine up until about a month ago. My PS2 still reades them. Maybe the burner is the problem!!!!!!!!!!

You might wanna check and see if your burner is running in PIO Mode, sometimes the installation of new IDE drivers cause your devices to run in PIO, when they should run in DMA.

I had the problem that pimpinTT is talking about and had no problems after I fixed it. Here's a link on fixing the DMA.

Err, Uninstalled it and unplugged it, but there was no change to the PIO/DMA. Dunno whats happening. I mean I got an NTSC copy of RE outbreak and it works fine but my PAL one does not even load just stays at ta blank screen. Maybe I should try and change the PIO to DMA because the option is there.

I have tried to decrypt my dvds and many of them wont do so. they go to about 91 percent and stop and wont continue so that I cant finish decrypting it and so can not burn it. when I try to use my DVD Shrink to open the disc it will start to analyze to about 91 percent as well and then will stop just as the dvd decrypt does. I cannot get my dvds to copy and burn because of this problem.

I have the same problem as Pindeho. I´ve checked and my burner is in ultra dma 2 mode so that doesnt seem to be the problem. All of my latest backups (top spin, spartan TW, virtous boxers 2 aso, and I have rebuilt the ones that need it) dont work well at all. Most of the times the ps2 just stops loading after a while , but once in a while they have been loaded. But its unplayable. The intros and videos play like the sound a broken cd: Freezes and then plays a little bit and on it goes. With some of the backups the actual gameplay seems to run quite smoothly (like in total overdose and ultimate spiderman) but the sound disappears every once in a while, and like I said, you can compare to a damaged CD.
I use DVD swapmagic 2.0 (and CD loader v 7 whenever it has been necessary) and I wonder if that could be the problem? Since 2.0 is an old version and this problem only involve my latest backups. All my backups until 1 month ago work like a charm. Interesting but annoying problem and I would appreciate if anyone have the answer.

Pindeho either your burner crapped out or s/t changed. Verbatim's should work okay. Sometimes high TOC games need to be burned at faster speeds (around 8x). Here is the correct method for burning: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/117975 I would worry more about burning method and speed before messing with hardware settings. Good Luck.

if his burner is in PIO mode that is most definitely his problem. When its in PIO it will work but it will burn disks at erratic speeds(jump from .01x to 4x back to .02, etc). This will def cause every game he burns to not play. Trust me i had that issue for the first 10 or so games i tried to burn until i figured it out. Havent had a unsuccessful back up since then, except for games that end up needing to be rebuilt.
