I'm using dvd shrink to encode my movies, without shrinking. I want to then burn movie on dvd-9 media. When I do this, it freezes when burning goes to layer 2. I've tried using dvd encrypter and have same problem. With DVD encrypter, however, it freezes for about 15 seconds then proceeds (after missing portion of movie). Is there a way of making a smooth transition when burning to dual layer media?

Thanks. I bought Memorex dual layer dvds from Best Buy, 25 for $29.99, great price. I just removed copyright from movie with DVD Decrypter, put on hard drive, then played with a few "preferences" on DVD Shrink, copied to another file and burned, still had 15 second delay when watching movie when it goes to layer 2. Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone burned a movie with dual layer and NOT had a problem? Equipment problem? Anyone, please help. Frustrated burner!!!

If you are burning a straight burn to a dual layer there is no need for Shrink. Just use DVD Decrypter in iso read mode, browse and open the MDS file and then use iso write mode to your dual layer at 2.4x speed.

Quote: DVD Decrypter probably does the best for dual layer burning right now
not quite
i'd say second best because lightning_uk! has released IMGBURN recently, which provides all decrypter does and more
(layer break options)

I forgot about ImgBurn, so used to Decrypter. I have not yet used ImgBurn for DL's yet am waiting to try it out when I get something I want to use a DL on, I am selective at the price of DLs.

I tried DVD Decrypter in ISO mode to burn dual layer disks and burned "Unbreakable" and it worked perfectly, no delay for dual layer break. Thanks. One side note, I bought those dual layered Memorex disk, 25 for $29.99, but when I ran DVD Decrypter it called the disks Ritek. This leads me to wonder if Memorex should change their slogan to "Is it Ritek (real) or is it Memorex". Again thanks for the help.

You are probably lucky that the Memorex DL's code out to be Riteks. Better media! Memorex (memosux) does not find many fans at this forum. They are noted for inferior quality.

Well when it comes to DL media Ritex rates about as high as Memorex does so it isn't any surprise they formed a union together.

So Ritek is creme de la creme in SL, but in DL they are pit of the pits?
Or maybe Memosux DL's are better than the SL sludge they sell?

@bbmayo hi :)
what i have to say is with the greatest of respect to yourself.
your's and pete's guides and advice is followed by thousands of ppl on forums all over the world, and indeed if we hadn't followed them we would be the poorer for it. lots of members (myself included) direct all newbies to these guides.
but, haveing said that i must strongly disagree with your comments on Ritek D/L. i use nothing else but Ritek, as my sig suggests.
i have found that the D/L is just as good as the G05s or R03s that i use. ok i've only used 12 as of this moment (to damned expensive to use all the time) but with those 12 i have had no issues at all, and wouldn't hesitate to reccommend them to any one
i'll probably get lynched by AD members now :)
