i been burning dvds with shrink for a while but recently after i burn somthing sucessfully it wont play on any of my dvd players like my ps2 and apex players i dont really know where to start to solve the problem but any leads or suggestions would greatly be appriciated...
ive also been haveing trouble with dvd decrypter (vts.....vob files....
You need to give some more info, like what is the make/model and current firmware of your burner? What program did you use to burn, Shrink just rips/transcodes it does not burn, did you use Nero or Decrypter? What brand of media are you using, i.e. Verbatim, Sony, etc.? Is it +R or -R format? Does the disk work on your computer?
I'm having the same problem. I started copying DVDs and the first several went fine - no problem. Then, all of a sudden, the burning process took about 10 times longer than it had been taking. Ever since then, it appears like the DVD has been successfully copied (all the files appear to be there), but it won't automatically start in my players. It also won't automatically start in my computer, although I can manually run the individual .VOB files that way. I'm using Memorex +R DVDs. I know the logical culprit is the burner itself, but my burner is brand new (Sony DVDirect VRD-VC20), and it still burns data DVDs just fine. By the way, it uses Nero for the burning. Any suggestions/ideas? Thanks.
Scambo ,
You might be going into Pio Mode. Go to Device Manager and look at the IDE/ATA Atapi Controller. Click on that and you will see Primary and secondary Controllers. Right click on the secondary controllers and when properities comes up click on it and go to advanced setting. Here is where you will see if it is in DMA Mode. If not change it to DMA if you can. If it refuses to change then go back to where you first saw Primary ans Secondary Controllers in Device Manager. Right Click on the secondary IDE Controller and then you will see uninstall. Click on uninstall and then re-boot the computer and let Windows find the Controller and install it properly
Also I would Dump the Memorex Disks as they are definetly Inferior Media and cause numerous problems. The company has about 4-6 different manuf doing the disks for them and there is no quality control. Try Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden
Thanks, car.mike. Transfer mode for both primary and secondary says "DMA mode if available". Primary says "Ultra DMA mode 5" and Secondary says "Multi-Word DMA Mode 2". I'll go buy some new media and give it a try. Will post back if I still have same problem with new media. Thanks.
