If you'll read back in this thread I gave complete instructions. Use DVD Shrink with AnyDVD running in the background, burn with DVD Decrypter or IMAGE BURN.

The way I used to rip the movie was running AnyDVD in the background and ripping the movie with DVD Decrypter in FILE MODE. I then used DVD Shrink to shrink it and Nero to burn it.

First rule of AfterDawn.com is you search before you post.

Common answer to ripping problems: Use DVD Decrypter first!

Here are a couple of suggestions about ripping errors I have noticed over the last few years that may help some newer members. These may not always be true but 90% of the time they are.

1. Ripping errors and failure in the first 10 to 15% usually is caused by the encryption if the disc is undamaged.

2. Ripping errors later on after 50% are usually caused by dirty or damaged originals.

3. Ripping errors after 50% and the disc is new and not damaged or dirty usually caused by a defective original (usually a bad pressed original and if so many copies could be defective.)

Always make sure you have the very latest update of the programs you are using. AnyDVD is updated on a regular basis as soon as a new encryption shows up. If you use an older version on a new encryption it probably won't work right. These are just some points I try to follow if I run into a ripping problem. They usually work for me.

I work at a vid store and I had the same problem with 4 dvds of Bewitched. All stopped at the 10% mark. And since I can not get a free dl of AnyDVD (had it before and everytime I try to dl it, it says my trial period has expired) I guess I am out of luck.
Anyone else have any suggestions?
I use DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink.

You could try the free programs of DVD Fab Decrypter available at http://www.filepedia.com look under rippers. Or the free program DVD43 which is a driver like AnyDVD and works in the background you can get that at filepedia too. Hope this works for you :)

Alrighty,

Here's my experiance with Bewitched.

Yes it has the new Sony Protection (ACCroSS) on it. What I did was copy with DVDFab, compress with Shrink and finally burn with Nero. Worked like a charm!

Alternatly you could have AnyDVD running in the background and use DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter to get the job done.

Treat it the same as Lords of Dogtown and it should work no problem.

Hope this helps!

@pablo818, If you have AnyDVD and Clonedvd2, why are you burning with Decrypter??? You are doing and extra step that isn't necessary. Clonedvd2 with the help of AnyDVD will rip and burn the final output all in one step.

Anydvd will work with just about every burning program out there and is always the first program updated for new encryptions. Most of the senior members on here always suggest it as the best decrypter to use, not because we get any type of kickback from Slysoft, just because its the best.

AfterDawn doesn't support piracy of any kind. Those of you that happen to get your hands on an advance copy before a release date is your business, but don't expect members that can't do that to have a fix for your problem before it is legally out on the market. In my opinion this is one of those GRAY areas on piracy. The originals being used are not pirated copies just ones that dealers let out before they should have. Therefore if anyone is to blame it would be the dealers that let them out to soon.

I noticed a few newbies getting somewhat out of line in this thread. If you have a problem with someone on here either PM that person or a Mod and settle it off the regular forum. We don't need more arguments starting on here over a movie that wasn't even released yet. Lets try to keep it peaceful.

This is not a "gray area." The consumer is in NO way a "pirate" nor engaged in "piracy" by any definition, nor anything remotely illegal by obtaining an embargoed dvd, ie one which the video stores have but are not supposed to release until a certain date.

even the video store is not breaking any law. the video store may or may not be breaking a part of their distribution agreement, for which there may be or may be no penalty perscribed within the contract. If a non managerial employee is renting or giving the disk to someone they may or may not be breakign their employement agreement

I worked in a business for several years in which distribution of a product was supposed to start on a certain date but was routine broken. There were also rules on advertised price whcih were also broken.

A vendor not obeying a distribution agreement is not breakign any law. they are breaking part of a contract. The customer is doing nothing wrong whatsoever.

I'm not going to start a debate but most on this thread stated they borrowed the copy in advance from a dealer or rental place to make the copy. Making a copy of a dvd you don't own is PIRACY any way you look at it. I was trying to be nice when I stated it was a gray area. Even the law about making a copy of what you own is still a GRAY area and never been tested in court. Look at it any way you want. It was a blanket statement.

Jerry is right. Copying something you don't own is piracy and sense they blatantly tell us they got a advanced copy from a video store, then we know they didn't buy it. :)

i work in a video store and the soonest we get the movies is 5 days before they are to be released for rental. so if some one sayes that they get the movies weeks before they are to be released unless they are older movies that migh be streaching the truth

tried ripping this dvd at lunch time. I had AnyDVD running in the background & i used DVD Decrypter. I noticed that dvdd didnt highlight all the VOB and ifo files. The ones that weren't highlighted were numbered 19.
anyway, i opened up the files in shrink and i left while it was transcoding. no problems
