Hi all out there, although I have been signed up on this site for some time now I have never put coments in or writen. With DVD Shrink and decrypter I have had a very successful time in backing up my dvd's, and only because I have been reading your coments and your guides on how to get through the troubles areas. So thanks to you all for the contributions and making things so much easier for me.
I have recently got hold of Sky High, it will not back up, when it first opens files after the first half dozen it comes up that is has to put dummy replacementfiles then shrink will not go past these.
Could any body help me through this please.

Aabbccdd, I have downloaded the trial softwear from Slysoft and it worked although I did waste a couple of dvd-r's getting used to a new program and getting it right. It did Sky high for me and got rid of the starting trailers. If you have any advice on how to refine on how to use it I would be realy greatfull.
Thank you very much for your help it is most appreciated.
BFN, spisfam.

a couple things, make sure your using good blank medai (Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim) are the top choices.second burn at 4X this will help lots or 8X if you have a really good machine and are using the media i mentioned. third dont run other programs while burning also make sure your drives firmware is up to date. heres some guides to help you get to know the programs.let me know how it works out for you

you might consider using CloneDVD 2 with anydvd(instead of dvd shrink) this is the best program going. happy burning and Cheers!!

Aabbccdd. I went to bbmayo.home and have down loaded some of the guides that make the backing up even more impresive, It looks like I will be definitely buying from slysoft, they explain how to use the software they sell extreamly well.
Now here is another question for you. I would like to transfer VHS movie's to dvd, I know the software is here, but the equipment to be used to carry this out, there are a few types. Do you have any recomendations of what make to look for and where.
BFN spisfam, and thanks again for your help and guidance.

i dont really tranfer VHS to dvd but you can use a standalone deck/ recorder to do it that have both built in (VHS and a DVD recorder)

Yeah those recorders are actually pretty good and there is almost no loss in quality in "SP" Mode (2 hours per DVD5). The only thing is that about half of VHS movies have Macrovision, so you would have to buy something to be able to record those movies.

I have read that connecting the VHS to a Tivo and then the Tivo to the DVD Recorder removes the Macrovision, but I am not sure of that. There are lots of video stabilizers and such out there that will do the job though.

At the risk of being redundant (I asked this on another thread, but I think it may be dying out and don't expect a response):

Would you take a minute and explain what is happening when you run AnyDVD "in the background?" I don't really understand the process. Thanks.

When you start AnyDVD, there should be a fox in your system tray. When you see the fox, then it is working. After inserting a DVD in your drive, the protection is automatically removed when the files are transfered to your hard drive.

This means that you can browse a DVD and drag and drop the movie to your hard drive. Also, you can copy a movie using software like Nero Burning ROM or Nero Recode which has no support for copy protections.

There is no program interface with AnyDVD. This means that you do not press a button to activate is. When it is on, it works unless if you disable it yourself. Think of AnyDVD as a plugin for any software to enable copy protection bypassing.

Well, lets put it this way....

If I were a Male Fox and the Slysoft Fox were Female fox...Oh yeah, I'd still go for Adriana Lima, but that slysoft is pretty sexy too...Sho'Nuff!!!!

I have been converting VHS to DVD using a new VHS from Wal-mart for $65 to a stand alone DVD burner attached to the TV. For the copy protected VHS I use a ADS Tech DVD Express box http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/category/category_tlc.asp?... which comes with everything you need to edit and burn your tapes through the computer to a DVD. The final product looks better than the original VHS, which is why I bought it.

Red discs are nothing but a way to authenticate them and to protect the consumer from buying fakes. This is usually seen in porn ("if it isn't red, it's not real"), I forget what company uses this, but there is at least one. It has nothing to do with copy protection or file corruption. It is odd that Sony is using this though....

What you are encountering is ARccOS. It is a structure corruption (like Ripguard) combined with empty sectors. There are several blank spots on a disc to prevent a laser from readin the entire file. The blank spots are skipped with the DVD player, so it does not affect playback to much. Think if it as a whole on a disc. There is no way a DVD Drive can read what is written on the part of the whole, because there is nothing there. This is why you get those CRC and similar errors on Decrypter.

I have only burnt about 50 movies

I started out by letting DVD Shrink do it all, but Shrink will not decrypt all movies. I found that out when I tried to burn Sky High. I then tried DVD Fab Decrypter to decrypt and Shrink to burn. I havent had any problems since.

I recomend to anyone that wants problem-free burning to use the same method as I do.

DVD Fab Decrypter to decrypt
DVD Shrink 3.2 to compress and burn
