ive done this a million times before. i use dvd decrypter, open the files up in shrink, then encode and burn it with nero. ive done at least 150 movies like this. i was doing one and it got to 94% burning, and then it just stopped. On the disc, you can see a spot it just stopped on. the error log doesnt say what the problem was, just brun process failed. its not the disc or the program cuz now it doesnt even start burning and i reinstalled nero. anybody have any idea wats wrong?

hi, let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar. You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

And while it's on mind here's a rundown on companies such as Memorex (have copy/pasted from one of many links in my sig) (i'm assuming the discs you're using are Memorex, though even if they're not, CMC Magnetics are the manufacturer of your discs -

the trouble with people like Memorex is they use widely varying quality in disc manufacturers, the most appalling being CMC Magnetics (hence the media code 'CMC Mag'). Memorex aren't the only ones who do this, others are HP, TDK, Imation etc.

snippet from a good list here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/155431 (media codes in brackets) -

Memorex DVD+R 16X (CMCMAG M01)
Memorex DVD+R 4x (CMC MAG.F01)
Memorex DVD+R 4x (MBIPG101-R03-000)
Memorex DVD+R 4x (RICOHJPNR01)
Memorex DVD+R 4x Printable (MCC-003-000)
Memorex DVD+R 8X (CMC MAG E01)
Memorex DVD+R 8X (PHILIPSC08)
Memorex DVD+R 8X (PRODISCR03)
Memorex DVD+RW 2.4x (CMC MAG.W01)
Memorex DVD+RW 2.4x (INFODISCA01)
Memorex DVD+RW 2.4x (RICOHJPNW01)
Memorex DVD+RW 4x (CMC MAG.W02)
Memorex DVD+RW 4x (MKM-A02)
Memorex DVD+RW 4x (RICOHJPNW11)
Memorex DVD-R 2x (CMC MAG.....)
Memorex DVD-R 2x (TAIYOYUDEN..)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (CMC MAG. AF1)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (MBI 01RG20)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (MCC 01RG20)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (ProdiscS03)
Memorex DVD-R 8X (CMC MAG AE1)
Memorex DVD-RW 1x (ProdiscDVDRW)
Memorex DVD-RW 2x (RITEKW01) MINI DVD-RW 1.36GB
Memorex DVD-RW 2x (RITEKW01....)
Memorex DVD-RW 2x (TDK502sakuM3)
MemorexDVD-RAM 2x (Optodisc)

So....for instance, in that list there are 3 varieties of +R 8x (none of which i'd say are any good really)

Memorex DVD+R 8X (CMC MAG E01)
Memorex DVD+R 8X (PHILIPSC08)
Memorex DVD+R 8X (PRODISCR03)

and here...all i'd say where any good are the MCC coded ones -

Memorex DVD-R 4x (CMC MAG. AF1)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (MBI 01RG20)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (MCC 01RG20)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (ProdiscS03)

The trouble is, you wouldn't know which ones you're gonna get, just buy picking up a pack of Memorex. And that's part of the reason why so many people have problems with them, they see the name Memorex, associate it with quality cassettes (for instance) in the dim distant past etc etc, and it's the luck of the draw as to what disc manufacturer actually made them. Hence why i won't buy Memorex, HP, TDK, Imation etc etc etc. There are ways with some companies discs, to work out which ones you're gonna get, ie what sort of tubs they're in, are they -R, what speed are particular discs etc etc but most people on the street just haven't got that knowledge and just don't care about all that. I have feet in both camps, i need to have knowledge of media, but i just want media to work, and work consistently and for good :)

Your Nero is out of date, current is 6.6.0.16

Your firmware on your burner is out of date current is AS06

http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/English/e_downloads/e_firmware_dvd%20...

Your choice of media is a little bad, CMC Mag are not considered to good around here, suggest you try better i.e. Sony, Verbatim, Fuji or Maxell.

You are burning at 8x on bad media, try to slow it down to 4x. You are also burning right to edge of your disk, try reseting your target size in Shrink to 4300.

You could also try and free up a little more memory by shutting down any unecessary processes.

just reply here again. Won't speak for arniebear but you're welcome to drop me a PM anytime (private message, sorry if i'm stating the obvious). i use my work email address so it's no bother for me, any afterdawn emails are certainly more interesting than work emails..

as to the Memorex, that's the very reason why i won't use companies such as them, you can't guarantee who manufactures the discs from one pack to another.. it's just a lottery..

one way to tell the media code of discs is this - download dvd identifier (free) - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id... and use it to 'identify' discs

edit- just glanced thru most of your threads and in most of those Memorex have been explained in detail such as i have above. hopefully my explanation now makes sense.,

ok i did everything. i updated my Nero. i changed to 4300 so it doesnt burn on the outer edge. i used lntrc or w/e to set my driver region. and the disc identifier came back witha code
.CMC MA..G. AM3.

if thats not what i should be looking at let me kno but besides the above listed, is there anything else to do except try a different brand of discs?

Look back at my post and you will see the link to the Lite-on site. Scroll down the page until you find your burner and download the zip file. Open it and click on the exe file and it will flash your drive. Good media is as recommended above Sony, Verbatim, Fuji, Maxell all retail. You have a Lite-on burner which is capable of booktyping +R media to DVD-Rom which will be capable of being played in all players. DL the Lite-on Booktype Utility it is also available from the Lite-on link.
