OK I just receiver my benq 1640. The back of the dvd drive looks like jsut plug ins. But do I dare to open up my tower and mess around in there? Is it hard to do or should I go take it somehwere to get it done? I am ancy and Im pretty good at this stuff but Ive never messed around in my computer, meaning my tower.

Adding drives to a computer seems intimidating, but it really isn't. You should be able to take the sidepanel off and see how the old drive is installed, pull the IDE cable and power cable, remove the old drive, install the new drive, and plug them in. Windows should find the driver for you when you reboot the system. Then update your firmware.

Pay attention to the cable positions as the red stripe on the IDE and the red wire on the power cable should face each other. The BenQ should have install instructions as well.

From what I read at AD, you are going to love the BenQ.

Absolutely will love it. Download the Benq utility (sorry I don't have the link, its in other forums if you search) and every time you put a +R disc in it will automatically burn as DVD-Rom for the best compatability.
