Here is a guide on how to remove all your spyware, trojans, adware, BHOs, and other malware using all freeware products.

1) Clear all your cookies and temp internet files.
Go to Control Panel->Internet Options.
Next select Delete Files. Wait until it is done and then select Delete Files again but check the unmarked box this time. Next select Delete Cookies.
Next go to Start->Run-> and type in Temp
Delete all the files in this folder.
Now, make sure to show "hidden files and folders".
Go to My Computer->Local C: (or other letter)->Documents and Settings->Youre Name->Local Settings->Temp. Delete everything in here and everything in the Temp Internet Files as well.

2) Download the following freeware products, from either here at aD or your favorite software site.
CC Cleaner
CWShredder
Ad-Aware 1.06r
Microsoft Anti-Spyware
Spybot: Search and Destroy
Spyware Blaster

3) Install and UPDATE all these products. Most are updated every 4-5 days so make sure they are up to date.

4) Now boot to Safe Mode. For windows this means restarting your computer and when it restarts to the opening black screen repeatdly press the F8 key.

5) Go under your name or under administrator and log in.

6) Now run the programs in this order and remove any pests found.

CC Cleaner
CWShredder (select Scan Only)
Microsoft Anti-Spyware (go to scan options and select Run Full Scan and check off all the boxes)
Ad-Aware (press Scan Now and go to Perform full system scan and check off Search for low risk entries)
Spybot: S&D
*Note* If Ad-aware or Spybot find anything, remove it and then run Microsoft AntiSpyware again.

7) Open up Spyware Blaster and enable all protection do avoid future spyware.

8) Use Mozilla Firefox or Opera web browsers, most viruses hit you if you are using IE. Only use IE wen it is absolutely necesary.

9)Boot back to normal mode and enjoy your spyware/adware/malware free computer!

Any questions or comments, feel free to post.

thelox,

I did see that thread, but i know for a fact that MOST people would rather read a guide than sift through 10 pages of peoples questions and comments.

Lol :P

Thing is though, I haven't been able to run these programs in safe mode? I keep getting error messages about running them in safe mode. Works perfectly normal in "normal mode" though.

Go to My Computer->Local C: (or other letter)->Documents and Settings->Youre Name->Local Settings->Temp. Delete everything in here and everything in the Temp Internet Files as well.

I keep trying to do this step, and I am aware that is where the viruses are located, but I am unable to delete that file.

Whenever I try to delete my Temp file, it tells me it is in use by another program or user. When I try to delete individual files in the Temp directory, it tells me "Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk".

I would GREATLY APPRECIATE an answer to this post. It would be quite a relief to be adware and virus free!!

Thanks for your prompt response!!

When I try and delete the files in Temp it says 'cannot delete index, dat:It is being used by another person or program.Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.'

I've closed Azureus and windows media player which are the only programs opened and the same thing comes up.

If you cant delete it, just leave it and delete everything else and it will be fine.

this can cause problems..for pop ups

6. Google's toolbar is spyware:
With the advanced features enabled, Google's free toolbar for Explorer phones home with every page you surf, and yes, it reads your cookie too. Their privacy policy confesses this, but that's only because Alexa lost a class-action lawsuit when their toolbar did the same thing, and their privacy policy failed to explain this. Worse yet, Google's toolbar updates to new versions quietly, and without asking. This means that if you have the toolbar installed, Google essentially has complete access to your hard disk every time you connect to Google (which is many times a day). Most software vendors, and even Microsoft, ask if you'd like an updated version. But not Google. Any software that updates automatically presents a massive security risk.
