Anyone try to backup The Hollow, very strange Brute Force Cracking Blocks. I tried a bunch of things with no luck. Dycrypter, DVDFab, DVDXCopy, AnyDVD...tried all with different setting and can't do it. Any suggestions?

What happens when you use these progs? Do you receive an error? Do you have a log you can post from Decrypter? Haven't tried it but if you can give more info we can probably figure it out.

It dont give an error it sys

STRANGE? Have not encountered anythng on disk like this.

After doing cracking routines it says

Brute Force can not find any vurnable blocks

gives option to continue any way with suboptions

yes yes to all no no to all

and say try all of the way to see if it works or pick no the next time

OK, I feel like a fool, but I got DVDFab to do the job with no problems. But decrypter couldn't do it. If anyone figures a way around this one using decrypter could you please post it. It bothers me that I couldn't make it happen. Again DVDFab will do it.

@HiDef
Post the log from decrypter - that would help. If this disc does have something decrypter can't do - maybe creating a psl file would do it.

I would of posted the log, but the log is useless. It says that it encountered a error with no details and the cracking keeps looping looking for different configurations to make it work. It even says the Brute Force can not find any vunerable blocking. But the dialog boxes (pop ups)the software is producing when trying to crack I would have to do a screen capture to show it. It seems as if Decryter is seeing something it can't handle. I know it sounds lame, but I do a lot of backing up, it suprised me. Even more puzzling is that Fab handled it????

DVD Fab Decrypter is updated - DVD Decrypter is no longer (sigh). There's several movies it can't do. Never tried the psl route though.
Here's a link to how to create a psl for decrypter if you ever want to try it:

I too was able to decrypt with DVDFab but when I try to burn with Nero Recode I keep getting an error and have went thru 3 blanks. I tried decrypting again with the same result and 2 more wasted discs. I'll enclose the nero log file.

First thing you should do it edit out your serial # - it begins w/ 1C and is in the log 2x: below here ********** Nero Recode **********
Version: 2.2.7.5
and here: ----- Begin NeroAPI error log -----

Don't need someone getting that!
Quote:
Nero API version: 7.0.1.2
You can update to the latest version which is 7.0.5.4
here's a link: http://nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-up.php
Quote:
ITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1673S>Version: JS0C
Your firmware is one version behind - the latest is JSOD.
Link: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2026

But the biggest problem is this:
Quote:
Disc Manufacturer: CMC MA - G. AE1
Eck!!! The worst media - the one thing consistent about it is burn errors! And probably the main cause of your coasters.
Switch to the good stuff Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. In store look for verbatim or Made in Japan Fuji or Sony.

I would completely uninstall from add/remove prgrams, run the Nero clean tool and try installing again. Do you know what the error was?
When installing/uninstalling I wouldn't recommend having anything else running.
The clean tool can be found here:

I tried the clean tool to no avail said an unsupported version of Nero was found and the program would now close. The error i am getting when trying to update it says: the file 'MFC7149090881.dll' cannot be installed because the file cant be found in cabinet file '1A8309D8.cab'. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the cd-rom, or a problem with this package.

I never could get ahold of anyone at Nero. phone was busy and no answer on e-mail. $1.29 a min. seemed kinda ridiculous to have to pay to talk to a live tech support person after paying close to $100 for their program. I tried earlier to uninstall the whole thing and download the trial version and input my full version code key but it would not load and got the same error. All this started after i updated the firmware for my burner in case that helps.

Here's a thread where other users were having the same problems as this. To me it's seems like a bug w/ the software. The firmware update shouldn't have caused this - all your doing is flashing your drive.
Here's a link to what worked for other people:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/270524
The first thing I would do make sure Nero is uninstalled and then run a registry cleaner - this may help. If you need one try registry mechanic - you can try it for free - here's a link:
http://pctools.com/registry-mechanic/?ref=mg_rm
When trying to reinstall either use the cd/ or original download if you have it. If you need to download from Nero use the update version not the trial.
If this doesn't work you can try with the suggestions in the thread.
This has really gone bad for you! I hope the registry works - thats easy.

Fix for KYBlues Nero problem: I got the same error message installing Nero 7.0.5.4 over 7.0.1.2 that I had bought direct from their website. There are only a few dll's that start with MFC and Nero uses MFC71U.DLL in just about each directory so i rename MFC71U.DLL to MFC7149090881.DLL and added it to 1A8309D8.cab using microsoft's cabarc.exe I dropped that cabinet into that Docume~1\username\Local Settings\Temp\Nero7.tmp\Cab directory, made it read only, and re-ran the install which then worked. They got a bug in their installation. I emailed Nero tech about it.

BeemerRT - Have the same issue with the missing DLL - afraid I am not as knowledgeable as you re CAB files - any chance you can send the CAB you modified? Many thanks!

Same here. I just wrote another e-mail to customer service threatening a small claims lawsuit it they don't send me a full copy on CD-ROM so I will at least have the original before the dreaded update from hell. I suggest everyone in the same boat do the same. Someone needs to light a fire under these guys. You would think that one of the most popular burning software companies would do better business than this.

kyblues - I totally agree - will do the same, following up on my 2 online tech support requests. As far as how program updates are handled, Nero appears to be in the dark ages!

I just got an automated reply from customer service. I can't believe their e-mail works. I hope they don't update it, then it won't.

I put the cab file at
http://stateson.net/pub/1a8309d8.cab
download it to your "username" as in
C:\DOCUME~1\username\LOCALS~1\Temp\Nero7.tmp\Cab
and set the file attributes to read only so the new install does not delete it, then reinstall. To verify the cabinet has legal files, extract it using WinZIP and do a binary compare of the 3 files with the 2 in the original cabinet (the msvcp ones) and then compare Mfc7149090881.dll with mfc71u.dll
You might also try deleting all the files in that cab directory and see if that fixes the install. Maybe that 1a8... was left over and doesnt even need to be used. Anyway, I did get the install to finally work and was able to burn a nice image though it took 25 minutes.
