I ripped to file with dvdfab, and then i encoded and burnt using cloneddvd. cloning right from dvd with CloneDVD didn't work for me either.

Having struggled with this I then cracked it simply:

1. Use DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 to hard drive
2. Opened NeroVision Express 3
3. Added to project the four files VTS_08_1; VTS_08_2; VTS_08_3; VTS_08_4 selecting no when asked if I wanted to join clips together.
4. One clip required audio stream to be changed from 1 to 2 to bring language to English. (Right click the clip to select audio)
5. Click next until finished, I added chapter marks.
6. Burned it with NeroVision Express 3

How easy is that!

@ alkohol,

Thanks man, your mini guide was the best! After trying alot of different things, the easy - Decrypt --> Shrink --> Decrypt worked wonders for both Madagascar as well as March of the Penguins. It is good to know that there are still helpful people out there. Bring on the Blue Ray Disks!

Here is the link to the guides for VobBlanker:

http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/guides.htm

VobBlanker does not do any burning. After VobBlanker is finished processing, you will then either have to burn with a program like Nero or use DVD Shrink to create an ISO and burn with Decrypter or ImgBurn.

Oh, and if a movie is still too big, you can always run it through a compression program like DVD Shrink after going through VobBlanker.

Bigturk,

I posted this several weeks ago and received a ton of PM's letting me know it worked.

This is a little more detailed version of what I did that helped someone else out. Try reading the following:::::

The problem you are having is that Sony managed to insert a bat "bit" of data into one of the VOB files that causes Shrink to bomb out. For whatever reason, that bad "bit" does not affect the playback in DVD players. Here's what you need to do:

Go back to Afterdawn and follow any discussion around the program called VOBBlanker and download that program. VOBBlanker will download as a simple zip file that you'll extract into a folder on your PC and will include an executable file.

Run DVDDecrypter 3.5.4.0 and dump the decrypted files into a folder on your PC. (I was able to decrypt the entire DVD...menus, extras...everything.)

Once you have VOBBlanker on your PC, you'll want to create a new folder on your PC for the DVD files you are going to "scrub" with VOBBlanker. Open up VOBBlanker and there will be two boxes you'll need to populate...an "Input Folder" box and an "Output Folder" box. Use the browse button of the "Input Folder" to locate the folder where your DVDDecrypted files are located. (Running DVDDecrypter was not a waste of time. VOBBlanker does not remove encoding...it just cleans out the bad bits of data.) Then use the browse button of the "Output" box to locate the new folder where you want to dump the newly scrubbed files.

That's it. Click on the PROCESS button and it will take several minutes. Once completed, you will have two folders that appear to contain identical sets of DVD files. Use DVDShrink on the new folder of files and you should be just fine. You can delete the old (original) folder that had the DVDDecrypter files.

So three steps. 1- Run DVDDecrypter, 2 - Scrub those files using VOBBlanker, 3 - Compress the newly scrubbed DVD files using Shrink.

Let me know how it worked.

You are welcome, glad it worked out for you. AnyDVD and CloneDVD are a real bargain, even if you can only afford one make it AnyDVD it works with most of the programs and is constantly updated to handle the new encryption. Happy burning..........enjoy :)

Thanks for all the posts to sort out each of the peeps problems. I tried all of them but to no avail. I did notice this!!!
The first disk I bought & tried to back up ended with this result;
After coping to HD using DVD4free & DVDDecrypter, then Shrink to back up...even just main menu titles[2]16 & 17 strangely enough which were just previews and penguins. I gave up and returned the disk for a new one and same exact process, now I have main movie title 18 only which is what I wanted in the first place because of the block/redundance cycle problem in backing up the complete disk.
Maybe all of the described post work only is you have a good disk to begin with!

I tried a number of combos, but finally, the steps that worked for me is as listed. I was able to copy the entire dvd, extras, etc.... Once cut, the dvd was as good as new, and you can cut it with any software to make others - as it is now scrubbed clean!!

First I saved it to the hard drive with DVDfabdecrypter. Then I scrubbed the Video_TS file with VOBblanker, and saved the file.

Next, I substituted (cut, delete, and resaved the content) the scrubbed Video_TS file into the space of the unscrubbed Video_TS file.

Then I shrank it to size with DVDshrink, then cut the DVD with DVDdecrypter (NOT DVDfabdecrypter).

The final version was perfect, and played on any DVD players.

I am sure a technically more competent person could do better with less steps. Somewhere along the way after the disc was cut, the computer refused to play it. I threw the disk in the garbage can, thinking that it was bad. However, the computer would not play any other DVD's either.... So I had to turn off the computer, rebooted it, and fished the madagascar DVD out of the garbage can..... Which then played just fine!! This disc then was abled to be copied by any commercially softwares (DVDcloneII, etc).

I also had the same problems after futzing around with Madagascar. I thought I was going crazy when the DVD drive stopped working. Glad you made it work.

Alkohol,

I for one appreciate your graphic post on how to burn Madagascar using PGCEDIT and VobBlanker. Very, very impressive! What program do you use to put all that on this site? Not to bad mouth the posting after that, but man, how can the instructions be any easier?

Thanks again.

@T140V

You're welcome and glad I could help. Actually, I prefer Adobe PhotoShop CS2 (it's a little complex, but more advanced). However, in query to Madagascar's picture(s) instructions, I use "Paint", which is a very simple program.

And now to any newbies,

If y'all follow my mini guide carefully, I GUARANTEE YOU 100% that you'll have a successful working "full disc" within 45 minutes. And if for some reasons, you did not have a successful ripped and burned, then it's likely that there is something wrong while following the steps or encoding with DVD Shrink.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

Ok, alk's...I followed your guide to a T, and ran across one error in VOB Blanker that's still giving me a hard time.

VTS 08: Processing VOB (Titles)
VTS 08: Keeping PGC 01
Error reading input VOB: Unsynchronized

PostCommands changed into Precommands in 0 PGCs of a total of 0

Finished with ERROR. Process Aborted and not completed

Other than that, even for us non newbs, that was the easiest guide I've seen posted about Madagascar yet...and I've followed every link in this forum and others, and still run into that one last issue. I've been able to successfully burn "movie only" files, but I'd like to do the whole DVD. Suggestions?

I don't know what you did, or what went wrong, but as far as I know, you shouldn't be getting any errors at all using VobBlanker. If for some reason you're getting "errors" using VobBlanker or AnyDVD, then it's more likely that the original disc is badly pressed, get a exchange and try it again. My mini guide or AnyDVD SHOULD WORK 100% regardless.

Just out of curiosity, did you successfully ripped it with DVD Decrypter using Mode, File F into the hard drive? Or what mode did you ripped it with?

DVDFAB Decrypter Platinum(full version) Gold Mode. (before using AnyDVD, which is running now)

I haven't tried using DVD Decrypter yet...since it had so many probs with Stealth, I switched to DVDFAB...also seeing as the platinum trophy-award winning DVD Decrypter isn't being updated, I knew the next set of new releases would prevent it from working. I've always used File F mode, never ISO mode in DVD Decrypter.

FYI, for those of you backing up with DL disks.. the solution as of today has become effortless.. just update your AnyDVD program to the latest version...5.6.3.1 , rip with DVD Decrypter in ISO mode and perform your usual ISO Burn preferably with Verbatim media.. the best out there (I've gone through virtually every other brand and get the best results with this media which you can now get for as low as 2.99/disc with a simple search from froogle.com) and voila.. perfect 1:1 copy , no compression, all menus for a total rip+burn time of 25 min..hope this helps

Currently using:
AnyDVD
DVD Decrypter
Plextor PX-716A External USB 2.0

An excellent description, the drive may be pricey but it really is a dream. I have no complaints about putting out the money for it.
