Hi everyone.. I recently purchased the flip top for the slimmer ps2, while installing it, a small black spring came out, one end stops very short, the other end moves out into a long skinny peice of a metal, with a little squiggle at the end, i was just wondering where this goes, because it is the final peice that i have yet to reinstall.. I hope someone knows where to put this, i appreciate any help i can get, thanks again

Having some trouble with my flip top cover. I have a v.4 ps2 which has been working well for some time, but now once some discs the discs make horrible noises and do not read even originals that worked before. I trying to determine how to remedy this situation or ditch the flip top for a no solder mod chip. Any advise?

That would be a very bad idea. The problem is not your fliptop, its either the media your using or your laser. You could try cleaning the laser.

My fliptops kinda funny actually.. when you first close it, the disc spins and makes that rubbing sound, and if you press on certain spots lightly itll stop doing it.. no discs damaged or anything, its just an edge or the lid not holding the disc proper.. *shrug*

just press around lightly on the top, see if thats your issue.. if it is, its possible the fliptop is damaged.. not "bad" damaged, but warped from mailing..

HMM, thank you both for your responses. First, I know its not the media since originals don't work either. I find the idea of a warped or iffy flip top to be the problem. I think for now I'll take the whole thing apart and put it back together to see if it helps.

Thank you all.

you don't have to take it all apart, just take the white circular piece out of the top and place it on the disc (with the top open).

Brilliant Sly, worked famously, do I need to keep it like that forever now or is there some way to get it back to normal - maybe a new flip top?

Thank you again!

try adjusting the screws on your fliptop. The white piece is either too close or too far away from the discs when the lid is closed.

yes, thats all you need (nothing special is needed for ea games either). The only time you have to patch is if you wan't to play your backup online.

Great! Let me ask just one more question. Will the DVD Decrypter also read/write the CD-Rom games and burn them aswell? Or do I use another program for that? Is there a free download for such a program on here? thanks!

If memory serves me, i believe that Dvd Decrpyter can do one of the 2 tasks. Either read, or write cd's. I thought it was only read them. Either way, it can't do both for your cd games. Any burning software should do the trick. Just create an image file of the cd game on your computer's hdd and then burn that image to cd-r.
It's very similar to dvd game burning.

HELP! I just bought the flip top from www. baysoftgames.com and it arrived quickly. They said nothing about ver1-9 systems, instead they listed V 8 screws or 10 screws so I got the 10 screws one, simple right? Then I downloaded instructions for installing the top lid. They seemed simple enough and I was successful until I got to the part where it asked me to take off the white CD piece from my old CD lid and place it onto the new lid. It says it shold just pop off but mine is not like that. Mine had a ring casing around the white disc and I can't seem to take it out. How in the world do I get around this? I was stuck and got frustrated. I have a v3 PS2.

you have to just pull it out. It will bend a little bit, but should be fine.

I didn't read through all of this thread so sorry if someone
answered, but one of you asked if anyone had successfully
made a backup of deus ex, I did, it worked, and it was on 8x
speed! slow load times though.

I just...
Swap magic Cd 3.0, flip lid, cdloader, press special boot.

When cd loader loads select pal or NTSC then press EJECT,
then put swap magic dvd ver. 2 in and press EJECT again

When that loaded, I flipped the lid for the backup and it
works, sweet!

EDIT: crap that was on the first page, this is page 70, dont
worry then, lol

Just pull it out? Are you sure? I don't have the kind where there are prongs holding the white disc, it is more like the disc is the size of a quarter and the hole is the size of a penny. I don't see how i can pull it out w/o damaging it.

I had to break my original black bit that held the white disc, how annoying.
