I have used DVD Srink to burn DVD for about a year. It has worked flawlessly until recently. I heard Leo Laporte say something about Interactual player having a trojan virus that messes up all decoding software. I do not have it (interactual player) installed but he said it might have been automatically installed when inserting a dvd if I was running XP as the administrator.
I run DVD Shrink, it sees the disk. I hit back up and it shuts down.
Any suggestions?

There has to be more information provided to try to help you.

What movie are you trying to backup?
What burn program are you using?
Do you get any messages from shrink, error log etc.?

Whenever the interactual player opens on my system I just exit it and it never starts. Is that what you do?

-I am backing up "Waterboy"
-I am using DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15
-I do not have interactual player installed "as far as I can tell"
-I have already tried to reinstalling Shrink
-there isn't a usual error log but there is a huge technical report
it used to work perfectly so I'm thinking it's a virus?

also, I can compress a decrypted file on my HD with DVD Shrink. It just won't decrypt or burn. I have been using DVD Decrypter to decrypt and Nero to burn and it works, but is a pain and you have to babysit the process.

layfe ,
If you are getting a Technical Error Report that is caused by the OS. You can read the report and see what Windows says you should do to correct it
Interactual Player gives you 3 options and all you have to do in cancel and it is not D/L'd

You are having a system error and that is what is cutting off the computer. You will have to find the error and correct your OS as it is not Shrink causing the problem. You might try and d/l a free registry cleaner ( you can Google for it ) and clean the registry as registry conflicts can cause system errors. If that does not cure it and you can not read the error report then you probably should do a complete re-format( full) and re-load the OS

I'll give the registry cleaner a shot. I don't have my Compaq Recovery disc so I can't reload the OS. Thanks for the help and I'll let you know what happens.

jfitz187,
Welcome to the forum. If you did install that player you should be able to uninstall it via add/ remove programs. Then google for a free registry cleaner and clean out the registry of any conflicts. You could also do a system restore to a time you knew all was working corectly.

That Shrink error " Invlaid DVD navigation structure " usually has to do w/ corrupt .ifo's or a DVD that has the ARccOS Protection. Try ripping the movie w/ DVDFAB Decrypter or DVDDecrypter and see if you can get through the error. You can also use AnyDVD w/Shrink also
