I picked up some 4X TYs last week from Supermediastore.

I got 50 of them and a cake box for storage.

Warning: don't get their cake boxes -- really cheap junk.

Mine came in with the base all cracked and the little ears of the top all broken -- not a good deal.

For those who are smart enough to order these discs without cake boxes, how do you store them -- do you just un-wrap them and let them sit around or what.

hi ron,

usually i buy in BULK, whenever from supermediastore, i get about 600 at a time~ :) yes, im excessive, but what i do to store them (i leave them INSIDE the shrink wrap they come in) until i need them to use...while the 100 pack spindles, i just re-use my old cakeboxes from buying RETAIL Fuji/Verbatim/Sony/Maxell etc and put my Taiyo Yudens onto that spindle~ :) naturally, i don't store my backups back onto those spindles they came off of, i use binders...so, i reuse the cakeboxes from the retail other media i purchase in stores...

yeah, buying cakeboxes in MY opinion is a waste of money, they are cheaply made and after transit, you are BOUND to be disappointed when they crack/shatter/are broken...give it a try~ :)

Not to belabor the point you stated:

but that is exactly what happened.

Yes, I have some, a few, "good" cakeboxes that I got retail, and they are of much better quality, but don't have enough of them. (Memorecks cakeboxes -- which are good, but from what I read on these forums, the cakeboxes are better than the media.)

Any suggestions where I can get some good cakeboxes -- I need some for my father-in-law who doesn't have any -- and I plan on buying him probably a 100 TYs to start off with. Or any other good ideas on handling 100 TYs, if you don't have cakeboxes or am I just obsessing too much over this.
