JaguarGod-'Now move the files from the new folder to the original folder'. Ah, a key instruction. Followed new instructions and everything acted much better. However when trying the result in DVD Shrink got message 'invalid data VTS_16_0.VOB'. This is the last VOB. Any guesses as to what I am doing wrong this time. Your help much appreciated.

Is this VOB associated with any part of the movie, or is it a Dummy VOB. It looks like you got past all the ARccOS stuff.
Open VIDEO_TS.IFO with IFOEdit. Then look at the section that reads "Number of Title Play maps". It will list all of the movie's titles. It will look something like (this is what it looks like for Resident Evil: Apocalypse):
Title 1: VTS_02_*,TTN 1 (Angles 1) (Chapters: 28) (Start Sector 43374)
Title 2: VTS_05_*,.....
Title 3: VTS_06_*,.....
Title 4: VTS_03_*,.....
Title 5: VTS_04_*,.....
Title 6: VTS_03_*,.....
Title 7: VTS_04_*,.....
Title 8: VTS_01_*,.....
What you want to look for are the VTS that are used here. For example, Resident Evil Apocalypse uses VTS 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6 in the 8 titles, but it has 8 total VTS in the Disc. This means that VTS_07 & VTS_08 are not needed. Do not rip these. Probably for this movie it is VTS_16 that does not need to be ripped.
If you have a softwae player capable of playing .VOB only files like Media Player Classic, play VTS_16_0.VOB & VTS_16_1.VOB. If they are both Blank then they are Dummy VOBs for sure.

JaguarGod-It is just a dummy. Can I just remove it from the list of ripped files along with the VTS_16_0.IFO and VTS_16_0.BUP? (For this movie there is no VTS_16_1). If I did so, would I have to run IFOEdit again?

JaguarGod-Did what I mentioned in last post and it worked fine. However the resultant collection of files was too large for Shrink. So I deleted all the other VTS's (which were just previews) and ran IFOEdit again. I got the movie and the menuing. This method seems to eliminate the need for VobBlanker. All of the 'making the movie' extras were on another disk. Thanks again for all your help.

JaguarGod-One small problem. The resultant movie shows the Sony logo but doesn't go on to the root menu. The root menu can be acessed if root menu is selected while VIDEO_TS.VOB is playing. Any advice?

In the original, exactly what plays and in what order. Does the Sony Logo come first or the Previews? If it is the logo, and then the previews, the reason it gets stuck is because the DVD player is looking for the previews and cannot find them.
Did you edit the IFOs to jump straight to the main menu? If not, do not worry. Just run it through VobBlanker. Blanking out the VOBs will take less than 1 second, since you will only be processing the VOBs that you are blanking.
After you finish, run IFOEdit and do the "Get VTS Sectors" again.
Just when you burn, burn on an RW disc so you do not waste any good discs if something goes wrong.
Another thing you can do it send me the IFOs. I can look at them and probably fix it so that it jumps to the main menu and skip the previews. If you go that route, also make sure to write down what each VTS has in a list form. Like VTS_01 is a preview, VTS_02 is a special feature, etc...
You can also try it yourself. Go to this thread and look through the guide I posted.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/255980
I mention how to find the "First Play" in The very first section "Setting Up & Ripping in IFO Mode". Then go about half way down to the post just above "Blank Out Unnecessary Features" and this is where I show how to change the "First Play".
If for some reason it freazes IFOEdit's "DVD Play" then try Nero Showtime or similar.

I was wondering, what is your progress with Stealth? Did it work out fine?

JaguarGod-Thanks, making good progress. Have a version which skips previews and jumps to the root menu where the play movie button works. However now the root menu subtitle button doesn't work. Quite a learning curve for me but am continuing to try to figure it out

If one is using PSL2 files with DVDDecrypter, can one use a PSL2 file made for FULL SCREEN version of Stealth to decrypt a WIDESCREEN version?
Thanks

Jgould2,
Good work!!! The next movie you try will definately be easier since you now have the experience. It is a bit better if you have problems. You learn more from mistakes than you do if everything goes smoothly. It took me a couple of days to get it to work properly the first time.
jamoskeag,
If you have a PSL file for this movie, it will be for the entire movie. Just note, that DVD Decrypter will not make a perfect PSL file. You will have to either make one yourself or find a Download somewhere. You can probably figure out which sectors to add manually by just ripping and entering the sector addresses in Notepad, but that may take some time.
If you want to use the guide I posted to rip the Full-Screen only, just switch VTS_02 with VTS_05. You will blank out all of VTS_02 except for VTS_02_0.VOB.
Also, you will have to edit the IFOs so that the movie jumps to Title 2 (remember, Title 1 is Widescreen & Title 2 is Full-Screen). This is for the part that Skips the FBI Warnings and such.

Jag God
There is a PSL2 file for Stealth FULL SCREEN posted at another forum (so i dont plan on making one). I expect to buy the WIDESCREEN version this week. I want to know if that Full screen PSL2 file will work to decrypt my widescreen version.

Oh, I misunderstood. Odds are that the PSL will be slightly different and may not work. What you can try is to have Decrypter export a PSL2 file. Then open it in notepad. See if the heading matches up. If it does, try it out. If the heading does not match, copy and paste the heading of the Generated PSL file to the downloaded one. Of course make a backup of the downloaded one first.
Jgould2,
what is the message you get with Nero and Shrink? Does Shrink analyze the folder (the quick analysis when you import it)?
Also, when you import the folder make sure you always press the "open files" button. Do not use the recent files list unless if the Quick analysis worked all the way.
Is it possible for you to send me the original IFOs and the ones you modified? If you can, put them into 2 zip (or rar) files. I can take a look at them and maybe I can see what went wrong. Let me know and I can send you my e-mail through PM.

JaguarGod-Quick analysis goes all the way. It starts to burn and gives error message: Internal error, must close. Using Nero to burn Shrink files gives similar error message.

That is an odd one. Try making the output with Shrink an ISO file. Maybe you will need Decrypter to burn. I never tried burning these movies with Nero. I always made an ISO.
Also, sometimes if you mess around too much with an IFO Nero will have problems. I remembered I Authored a DVD that had tons of Commands and Nero, Shrink, & Clone DVD gave me errors. However, Nero Recode worked. That was really weird because the movie was never encrypted since the source was avi files that I encoded myself to .m2v & .ac3.
Also, make sure you "Get VTS Sectors" every time you change something.

Jgould2,
Load the Main movie IFO in IFO Edit, it should show you the chapter/cell Information. Then press the "copy2clipboard" button.
Paste the text in a post. Do this for the original IFO.
Also, is this DVD both Widescreen and Full-Screen? If so, make sure you blank out the VTS that has the aspect you do not want. Also post VIDEO_TS.IFO so that I can see the Titles played.

Before you go and but AnyDVD & CloneDVD2, since you have 99% of the movie done, try this:
You said you deleted VTS_16, but maybe that is part of the movie, but has ARccOS protection on it. Rip VTS_16_0.xxx, meaning the ifo, bup, and menu (VTS_16_0.VOB). Then run it through VobBlanker again and blank out VTS_16. This will create a new VTS_16_1.VOB.
If this does not work, then you will probably have to go with AnyDVD, as I will most likely not look at the movie personally, and I do not know anyone that is going to buy it or even rent it.
I am pretty sure your error is with Nero and not with Shrink. Usually if Shrink can process something (quick analysis), it is burnable, but it is better to create an ISO Image and burn a movie with Decrypter. Another way to make an image is to load the movie in IFOEdit and click on "Disc Image". Use this only if the movie plays back in IFOEdit or something like Nero Showtime.
The only drawback of AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 is that you cannot customize compression, so VobBlanker is a must for movies with a lot of garbage. AnyDVD seems to not like this movie and gives errors in Shrink as well. Perhaps there will be an update to the program soon though.

A.) Stealth can be ripped to the hard drive using either of the two following methods (both of which use FREE applications:
1. Use DVDFab Decrypter, or
2. DVD Decrypter, with use of applicable PSL2 file (for region 1, Stealth widescreen PSL@2file, go to: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=57354
B.) Once you get ripped to hard drive, use DVD Shrink (or Nero Recode) to compress/reauthor;
C.Burn using DVD Decrypter (or Nero). (Note: Nero products are not free.)
Hope this helps.
