Hello kim, once you get dvd shrink set up,learn all the quality enhancements and settings then it's a pc of cake.Sounds so confusing at first and then wham! It's so simple. If you have dual drives,it's even simpler.
Dvd shrink usually pulls off the encryption, except infamous sony arccos. It does a quick analysis in about 2-4 mins, depending on your pc specs. If you can't get through that initial analysis or dvd doesn't recognize that original, then activate anydvd in the background and try again.
Those backup options are confusing at first. You set your backup target for your dvd-rw drive and burn with nero.Make a new folder for the the files to go after the process or dispose of them is the same file for all your backups.Depends how much hard drive space and how long you want to keep them around.
Make your backups region free.
Then there's the quality enhancements. If those are grayed out, then no compression is on them so you won't have the option to choose them. Check the number that dvd shrink tells you for compression. If it says 100,then no compression. If it says 80,then it is being compressed at 20%. The more compression, the lower the quality, that's why I reauthor most of mine. Still on the backup options under quality:
If there is compression, then you have the option to tick perform deep analysis and below that compress video with high quality adaptive error compensation. Highly compressed backups may need these enhancements to improve the playback quality. They'll slow you down, but improve your backup.
Options: Run backup in low priority mode, which I leave ticked. There's also an auto shutdown setting you can use if desired.
Burn settings: Keep the burn speed at 4x to start with.If your burner is capable of booktyping the plus format and you are using plus media, then you can tick that booktype box. Last,I leave box for burn at 30mms.
Once you double check all those backup options settings, click ok and process starts. If you used the quality enhancements: It will analyze/then goes to encode to hard drive/and then burn with nero. It'll look like it goes through dvd shrink twice.
If no quality enhancements are used: It will encode to hard drive, then auto burn with nero.
No multitasking during the dvd backup process.Shut down any unnecessary background programs.Dvd shrink will max out your processor,so any program that starts up,may give you playback issues.
That's the easy part, getting your backups to play in all your stand alones is another story. That's why it is a good thing to use quality media. It'll save you a lot of problems.
It sounds like a lot,but all the info you need is right here.Go through some of the guides, any questions, then come on back.
