There's not really anyway to find which chip it is except by asking the person who installed it. The only other option is to open up your PS2 and see what it says on the chip. I don't recommend that, unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing. Does it say anything like Toxic OS or Infinity when you turn your PS2 on?

well no it does not say anything but the shopkeeper said something like magic. it just works normal i have been using golden dvd games from malaysia for 2.5 years and after that i had to change my lens now i am still using them.i copied driver 3 on a DVD+R it worked but in the second try and it sometimes goes to the browser. and also my any game dont work from browser screen i always have to restart after inserting disk. if i insert disk at browser it keeps loading and then it says disk read error so i have to restart the ps2 then it works.

Well that could just be how your modchip works. Direct booting of games is a fairly recent development in modchip technology. The Matrix Infinity was the first chip to direct boot everything, let's say a year ago. What is the media code on those Malaysian DVD's? Chances are they're awful media. Put one of the games in your DVD burner and check in DVD Decrypter where it says maufacturer ID. Compare the ID to what you see listed here: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

I think he means the blank DVD you plan to copy it to
there are programs out there that are freeware that can check media ID's if DVD Decrypter can't.

the copied dvd games i buy here look just like original. even the nfs most wanted came. they look golden from down and have a coloured image over them just like original. and also have the game name written under the dvd near the end of the circle like the DVD+R have under them some code. i can submit the pic but i dont know how to paste the image here. i have image in the harddisk.

k. i have 3 pics of the malaysian dvd game of midnight club 3 dub edition. it comes with complete dvd case. 1 pic of dvd case 2nd pic of front side dvd and 3rd pic of under side dvd. total size is like 350kb so how do i paste here?. i have them on the hard disk.

Yeah but if they're sold for $4, then they are almost certainly bootleg copies. A lot of bootlegged PS2 games can look similar to original games. I meant that you should put the blank DVD you are going to copy your game to in your burner, then open DVD Decrypter and see what it says under manufacturer ID. I think the problem here is cheap media, that's why I'm asking.
