Best Quality Authoring using DVD shrink

I made a DVD using Nero Vision express 3 using extended play time.
Using several mpg files. It go over by a few megs. So I made another
DVD using the remainder of the file which goes over the space limit.

Now I wish to do authoring with the tracks.

Should I put the settings to automatic for compression for all the
tracks or put no compression for some of the tracks and compression
for some of the tracks. So all the tracks would fit on one DVD.

I would like the over all quality to be as good as possible yet all
the tracks fitting on one DVD.

You could apply mixed compression, to say the tracks that arent as important as others getting the most compression.
