hi
i have just made a backup of Prince of Persia the two thrones.
the burning speed was 4 using verbatim TYG02 media. and the software was DVD Decrypter. and it dose not work. it freezes at the loading screen when i start the game. i have also scanned the DVD with DVDinfo and got this result the first part of the DVD is missed up. u can see the rest is ok the first part of it is not burned properly i dont know why
and also i am using LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S with frameware YS0F. whenever i start to burn a DVD for first 30 second the DVD does not spin. when i click on burn it spins for 3 sec then stops and starts after 25-27 secs that causes the problem
here is the graph
can any one tell me how to fix this please
please tell me what am i doing wrong
thank you

Quote: As far as I know it does not, I owned one of these for a few days and took it back and replaced it with a Plex 716A. The problem with the drive is that it is not a true Plex so it will not interface with PlexTools. However, it is not a true BenQ and will not interface with BenQ suite. It does not know what it want to be. In order for you to get the BenQ feature you have to flash it to a true BenQ 1640 with hacked fw. The only way I could get the drive to do anything was to use DVD InfoPro to booktype and scan.
Yes you are right about the Plextor 740a. It's a rebadged BenQ 1640 but you can't use Plextools or Qsuite. I went ahead and cross flashed mine to BenQ 1640 and it worked out fine and I can now use Qsuite and Nero dvd speed quality test. It is a risk though and you can fry your drive!

Yeah I already decided not to cross flash mine. Being analytical as I am, the risk vs reward is very poor. Almost no reward vs frying my only DVD Burner. Even a third grader could make that call. Hell in the PS2 forums, their probably is third grader making that call right now lol.

Oh okay. That wasn't directed at you, sorry. I could see how you thought it was though. Nah I just meant for me cross flashing isn't worth the risk, that's all. Peace.

I guess I'll spice up this thread a little now. Here's the one and only famous TAIYO YUDEN and another 2 great scans from the MAXELL002 (Hitachi). Enjoy it!!

Damn you and your PIF supporting burner lol. So Alkohol, what do you think a 100 score would equal without PIF scans? I know there's no way to know for sure, but probably just a couple points less, right?

@Tokijin
It's rare and super tough to get 100% on the Quality Score, to get 100% mean 0 on PIF and that's a super tough answer here. Honestly, I have never seen a 100% on any of my scans so far. I usually get 95% - 98%, and believe me, this is the best results with top notch quality media like YUDEN, VERBS and MAXELL (Hitachi), and I'm talking about 1 & 2 PIF only.
Again, maybe you can try to burn at 2X with genuine YUDEN or MCC003 to see if you'll get any lucks and get 100% on Quality Score. However, I highly doubt it though, but there could be a possibility. Honestly, if I get anywhere from 95% and up, then I'm all square away.

@tia hwrench
To post a picture, do as the following steps:
<> get a nice picture, a scan or anything you want to post, save as PNG
<> go to http://img283.echo.cx/ <> click "BROWSE" and browse to your picture folder, choose the picture you want to post, then click OPEN
<> click HOST, once the picture loaded, click on the picture
<> now you should see the picture only, now RIGHT click and copy the bottom URL
<> save the URl and come to AfterDawn
<> once you're ready to reply or post type this [img]YourURLhereWithNoSpace[/i m g]
**NOTE: [/ i m g] NEEDS to be together, or else it won't work. I did it on purpose because it will look weird due to there's no link only.
That's it.

@ Alkohol I haven't been here in a while, but I was the guy with the Q's about my DRU810a and it's not working with the PIFs and Nero CD/DVD Speed. I think I have figured out how to post pic so if that works the question I have will make sense. On all your pic posts you see your "Selected speed @ 4X" and in the pics you see the "yellow line at the "4" on the scale to the right side of the graph. With my 810a it is always below a 2, even at maximum speed. It never goes any higher. My question to you, or anyone else that may know is: is this another problem with the drive or is it in a setting? I have noticed that Tokijin 's look the same as mine as well. Have you noticed this Tok... I did upgrade my firmware to "1.0d" also but it never made a difference. It takes me 40 min's to do a "disc quality scan".. Ant thoughts???? This scan was done of Forgotten on the DRU 710a that I had last year...Thanks Leewan

You need to set the speed to whatever speed you burned the disc at to get an accurate scan. I've come to terms with the fact my burner doesn't support PIF scans. I felt better after I read the quality review on cdrlabs.com. Check it out: http://cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?reviewid=273

@gear79 buddy
I got it from Office Depot and Wal-Mart, they're pretty cheap when it's on sales, so look for it whenever you're shopping at Wal-Mart or Office Depot. Just make sure to look for "made in japan" and you'll be fine.
I hope you're happy and all sorted with Nero 7 now?

@ alkohol
Just curious on this, I've got a Benq 1640 and not one of the 200+ Nero quality scans shows a constant rating on Max PI errors of 1,, yet you have three in a row, are you sure your drives reading accurately?
I've had 99% on quality for quite a lot of disc's using Taiyo yuden, verbatim and maxell, but absolutely never a constant below 2 never mind a constant 1.
There's nearly always a spike of 3 or 4.
There is wide differneces in the way burners read with Nero scan or dvdinfo.
getting a constant readout across the spectrum of a dvd's dye is virtually unheard of.

The Sony and the BenQ reads the PIF differently according to my understanding (I may be wrong, so somone correct me). I know for a fact that the DRU 810A, which is a rebadged of the BenQ 1640 does not support PIF on Nero CD-DVD Speed. However, for my DRU 710A (a rebadged of Lite-On SOHW 1633S) with any of 2 PIF will give me 95 on Quality Scores and any 1 PIF will give me 98 Quality, regardless of what brands (YUDEN, Verbs. or Maxell mij).
Yes.... I do have better results with YUDEN than MAXELL002 and Verbs. Honestly, in my opinion, I believe that genuine YUDEN will top any other brands, but if you take a good look at this thread from the very beginning until now, most of my scans are 2 PIF with YUDEN, Maxell and the Verbs. (MCC004). Once in a while I get 1 PIF with YUDEN and MAXELL, that is a lucky one.
On the other hand, I don't know how fast you burned yours, but I've always burned most of my YUDEN and Maxell at 4X only. I rarely burned at 8X, but whenever I do, then I'll go with my YUDEN000T02 and MCC004 only.
Like I said, different drives, different reading/settings and burning speed will have different results.

The Taiyo yuden disks I've used have got various scan quality of 99 to 95 (over 300 back ups now on TY:))
I usually batch scan i.e 1 in 10, and never had a constant 1 max PI on the benq 1640, as we agree most drives do read differently.
I'm pretty sure most of the scan's you have would read quite differently on the BenQ.
I've used Verbatim (TY dye DVD-R x8), Taiyo Yuden DVD+R (x16) Yuden000 T03, Verbatim x16 DVD+R MCC004, Maxell (maxell 002,Ritek G05) all at various different burn rates.
and as I mentioned not once has there been a constant across the board PI Max failures readout.
Just to note there is a wide variance between the way burners read disc quality.
This is more of an observation having tried a number of burners on my 3 ps's.
Only real way to tell is running the same disc on different burners (*edit* through Nero Scan****) and comparing the results.
With my set up, with the BenQ 1640, Verbatim MCC004 Adv Azo 16x DVD+R photo printables have given me far and away the best results (a lot of 99 scans )
beating Taiyo Yuden (various) quite comfortably.
