I am new to this, and just subscribed to this Forum to get some answers if possible. I downloaded DVD Decrypter and had no luck, so I gave DVD Shrink a try. I backed up 2 movies (Butterfly Effect, and Saw), and played them fine on my computer, and also in one of my DVD players (It was an older RCA). Then I went to play them in my other DVD player, which is one of them DVD/VCR players, which is only like 6 months old, and the screen comes up and says "Reading Disc.." and that's all that comes up.. No movie. I am using 16x Memorex DVD-R's because I have always been a fan of Memorex for CD-R's, but for some reason they don't work on the newer player. Just thought I would do some research before spending another 20 bucks on different discs, or downloading other programs.
Thanks in Advance,
Jon

I also forgot to add that I have a brand new Gateway Media Center desktop with 2 DVD Drivers (One DVDRW and one DVDROM) and am using Shrink with the Nero software that came with it. Don't know if that helps any, but I figured it wouldn't hurt. Okay, thanks again..

Sounds like a media issue in conflict with the player to me. You might want to consider going to +R media (Stay away from memorex)in a taiyo yuden or verbatim and then change the booktype to DVD-ROM. Here is a thread that explains what I am talking about.

This should resolve your player issues, if your burner supports bitsetting.
Post back your results.

I am not exactly sure WHAT to do yet, but from what I understand I need to find out if my Burner supports changing the BitSetting. If it does, than change that to 0 Bit.
THAN change my Media from Memorex, to like Verbatim DVD+R's. This should solve the problem?
I Used that site, but could not find the model of my burner because it came with my Gateway. I got it sorted down to about 53 types, but did not know which one mine was.
Thanks - Jon

I found out my DVD+RW is a Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-1633S. It says it supports changing the Bit Setting, but I am not sure how to?

You can't booktype the - format, only the + format. You'll have to get yourself some quality DVD+R media to booktype. Ditch the Memosux!

Well I have DVD+R's, but I will upgrade to a better brand. I just need to know WHAT to do in order to change the Bit-Rate.
I read up about downloading a patch for the burner that I have, but not sure if I need it?
Let me know. Thanks
Jon
