Hi I'm having trouble with getting my dvd's to play on my comp. I've played the movies on here before but for some reason every time I try to open it with my dvd shrink it keeps telling me that there's no disc in there. Usually my windows media pops up as well when I put a dvd or cd in there and now it's not doing anything. Can anyone help???

You should check the system and see if the drive is operating properly.

Settings>Control Panel>System>Hardware tab>Device Manager and find the dvd drive and check it functionality.

You may need to uninstall it and reboot the system and let windows locate it again.

Sorry, but I'm not very good with computers. Now when you say uninstall do you mean the DVD Shrink or the dvd driver?

This will uninstall the driver for the drive.

Go into My Computer and right click on your drive and choose properties and the Autoplay Tab and make sure the "Prompt Me Each to Choose and Action" is checked.

Ok, I have tried uninstalling the drive and even went into my comp and made sure that it was what you told me to do and it still won't play the dvd. Anything else I could do??

Can your computer (dvd drive/burner) play any other dvds besides that one you're having trouble playing? If it still doesn't recognize any other original or backup dvds, then maybe it's going down the hill - meaning it's probably dead.

Nope, I tried the other movies on there and it won't read any of it either. Does that mean I'm hooped??

I don't know about hooped, but it may mean that you need to replace the drive. Does the system recognize it? When you rebooted did windows find it?

Unfortunately, I believe your dvd drive/burner has reached its milestone day to be replaced.

Does sound like it has developed a severe case of amnesia, does it read or do anything at all. Like play cd's. Have you tried a system restore to back before you developed the problem just in case it is some corrupted file or software conflict?

Yeah, windows does find it when I uninstalled the drive and rebooted. I did try the system restore and that didn't do anything either.
