Problems with Shrink and Decrypter.

Just lately I have noticed certain movies will cause these programs to freeze my computer when trying to burn a movie. Latest movie to cause this problem is Skeleton Key. I have 2 computers all high end with Pioneer burners. Looking back there was another movie that caused the same problem but can't remember the title. Thought it was my computer but now I think they are adding something on the discs to cause this. I will reboot and then use another movie and both programs work OK. Anyone have these conditions? Both programs are the latest versions.

Both of those programs are no longer updated, so even though you are using the latest versions they still may be outdated. You could try DVD Fab Decrypter instead of DVD Decrypter to rip the movie, or there's DVD43 or AnyDVD that run in the background and will pull of encryptions (don't use BOTH DVD43 and AnyDVD, they don't get along together. AnyDVD is updated quicker than DVD43 so that may be the more ideal choice. AnyDVD has a 21 day free trial)

But why this problem only on certain movies. Most movies have no problem at all. It seems its the movie discs and not the programs causing the problem. Appreciate all.

Squizzle answered your question in his thread. Why only certain movies? Movies released by sony/columbia have newer copy protections on them that DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter can no longer handle, but with the aid of other progs they still work like a charm. If you want to rip like you used to in File mode with DVD Decrypter, you need to download DVDFab Decrypter. If you prefer to start with DVD Shrink, you will need either (not both) AnyDVD or DVD43. These two progs run behind DVD Shrink cracking the protection while you are transcoding.

yes AnyDVD is the trick to doing the newer movie run it in the background with your fav . encoding program ,CloneDVD 2 being my fav. with anydvd
