I have made far too many coasters the past few weeks for this to be a coincidence. I have followed all of the forum advice regarding burning procedures with shrink, decryptor, any dvd, dvd clone, dvd fab and dvd 43 in any and all combos. I have no trouble burning single layer dvd's. This is my latest burn error report using dvd 43 and shrink to my plextor 716a with a Ritek DVD+R DL disc:

First off remove your serial number, it begins with 1a20. We wouldn't want any nasty pirates getting ahold of that now would we?
Quote:
Recorder: <PLEXTOR DVDR PX-716A> Version: 1.09 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.16
Next, your Nero is slighty out of date...current version is 6.6.0.18, and your firmware appears to be current.

File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Ver=5.1.1.210, size=23721 bytes, created 12/8/2003 10:21:13 AM
Do you have Roxio on your PC if you do, remove every trace of it.

File 'Drivers\InCDpass.SYS': Ver=4, 3, 0, 5, size=28672 bytes, created 9/13/2004 11:54:46 AM (InCD4 driver for win NT/2K/XP)

Also remove the INCD packet, it is known to cause conflicts and so does Roxio.

And lastly, out of all the programs you listed as using, the only two you need for DL burning are AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter. Open DVD Decrypter, go to tools, settings, I/O tab and set up like so:

This will tell DVD Decrypter to rip the movie using AnyDVD to strip the copy protection. Simply run AnyDVD in the background while running DVD Decrypter in ISO read mode. When the rip is done, go to ISO write mode and burn you movie from the MDS file, this file contains the later break information. Also remove DVD43, as AnyDVD and DVD43 don't play well together.

That's why I'm the newbie and you're the senior member. I didn't have Roxio installed but the folder and .exe file were on my C drive. Probably installed with Plextools. As for INCD, do I have to remove it completely or just disable it when I burn? I do use it on occasion. I'm off to bed for tonight. Thanks again.

Its not your Burner its the RiData Dual Layer Discs your using they are Junk
I bought a spindle of them from Newegg when they had them on sale and out of 25 discs only 3 of them would burn and Play right
This Media has issues at the Layer Break or writing to the Second Layer period for that matter
Go out and get you some Verbatim +R DL discs and I bet your problems will go away
I know 5 other people that had problems with the Ritek discs and No Problems at all with the Verbatims
Media makes or breaks your Backups
I personally have never had a coaster using the Verbatim +R DL

Yep the as Vedas830 stated, the media can make or break you. I've not tried any of the DL media because I am too cheap, and I'm not that familiar with the Ritek DL discs so I didn't comment on it.

As far as the InCD goes, I've not heard anything good about it all. If you use it and the other tidbits of information work for you then leave it. If it ain't broke don't fix it
