I've been having an on-going problem with DVD Shrink corrupting the file structure on my hard drive. I've been using Shrink with DVD 43, and Nero 6.0

The problem first of all, is that my D drive (where I save my movies to) becomes unreadable and I must format it. It only happens when I use DVD Shrink.

I first thought that it was Nero, as it only happened when I "backed-up" a movie to a DVD-R, but I stopped using Nero and just burnt the image to the HDD. The problem is still occurring, the file system becomes corrupt and I have to format it.

Any suggestions?? This is becoming a real pain!

Thanks...

The only way that I can see this happening is if you have a corrupt copy of one or the other of the programs. Do like aabbccdd indicates. Uninstall them and get new downloads and reinstall. Make sure you get the genuine program. You can download them from this site.

DVD43 is not being updated as regularly as AnyDVD for the newer encryptions so this may cause you some issues with newer movies. I personally recommend AnyDVD as it is excellent, but will not work in conjunction with DVD43.

I removed DVD43 from my system and installed AnyDVD and tried it again. Same thing. The file structure was corrupted. So it has to be Shrink as it is not the only program that I have been using every time that it has happened.

I am using DVD Shrink 3.2 which I downloaded from this site. Just as a note, the AnyDVD and DVD43 were also from this site.

Is there another good program out there that can do the same job as DVD Shrink?

sbud did you delete DVD Shrink?? and reinstall it and yes CloneDVD 2 works very well with AnyDVD so give it a shot or you can use DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD ,set up DVD Decrypter this way though

To use DVD Decrypter in conjunction with AnyDVD as stated per Olli ->OF SLYSOFT AND CloneDVD

Proceed to the DVD Decrypter Opening Page - Tools - Settings

I/O Tab - Click on "Elby CDIO-Elaborate Bytes"

General Tab - un-check "Check For Structure Protection"

heres a guide also

before you do anything delete the corrupt files from your HD do a disc cleanup and a defrag and start form there

The original Shrink that I had on was from a cd from a friend that uses it with no problems. After it didn't work, I deinstalled it and downloaded it from the afterdawn site. I had the same problem.

Thanks for the info on Decrypter. I'll give it a try and see what happens.

Ok, this is getting crazy. Maybe it's not the software....???

This time I used Clone DVD with AnyDVD. It's been the worst so far. After burning, I coudn't even access my D drive due to file structure errors. When it was finished burning, it did say completed successfully as it did with all of the previous attempts. When I looked at the disk, there was no audio, and showed about 10 seconds of video that wasn't even from the DVD that I was backing up. Which has also been the same from when I was using Shrink.

I think there is something else going on here! Maybe hardware, maybe something else on my computer.

Here is a rundown of my system.

Intel P4 2.4GHZ
133mhz bus
512 X 2 Kingston Ram
Intel D845PESV board
ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB Video Card
Sound Blaster Audigy Sound Card
C: 40GB Western Digital
D: 200GB Western Digital
E: DVD ROM JLMS LTD-166S
F: DVD +-RW DL Sony DRU-720a

If there is any more suggestions on why this is happening, please let me know. I'm getting tired of formatting and restoring back-ups.

Thanks

I had the same problem with my maxtor 250GB but I cant remember what I did, but I would check the hard drive. Reformat it fully and use DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD update Nero to 6.6.0.18 and good luck.

It only started to do it when I started to back up copy protected DVD's. It doesn't do it to non protected ones. I have burnt numerous DVD's of my own, with no problems. Again, it's just been ones with copy protection.

Could it be some sort of worm on my system???
